I have the 12 inch. The top 4 inches is soft and then the rest is firm. I don't like hard mattresses, but I love this one. I have no more back troubles when sleeping and I don't toss and turn. It's soft on top to cradle you and not make your body parts fall asleep, but it's very supportive underneath. I waited a year to see how this mattress holds up and it's the same as new. Somehow, Amazon won't let me leave a review, even though I bought it here. see less I have the 12 inch. The top 4 inches is soft and then the rest is firm. Perhaps the 12” might have more memory foam enveloping the sleeper and therefore causing more heat retention. It’s just a guess, but this theory makes sense to me. see less I’m surprised by the many responses saying it does retain heat and sleeps “hot”, as we do not find it hot at all, and I’m one to usually wake up drenched in sweat on most any mattress. Answer:
We try to get the item out of our warehouse long before the shelf life expiration date. Although you will receive it prior to that, we just want to ensure the mattress decompress properly. Leaving it in the box for a long period of time will cause the mattress to have decompression issues.

Answer:
No. I have only had the Zinus mattresses for about 6 months. So far so good. For me only good experiences with this brand. I was not expecting to be happy because of the inexpensive price, but I'm happily surprised. The 12 inch on is better than the 10 though.

I sink in about 2-3" no matter which way I lie, which makes changing positions difficult as I have severe low back pain. You kind of have to lift then turn. And it has been a bit awkward for intimacy as it is hard to move nimbly. That being said, I have noticed less pain and inflammation in my back legs and feet when I wake up in the morning, which led us to keep the mattress. I don't know if it will last with our weight on it every night, but for now it rebounds in seconds and there are no indents. see less Hi Mary.
