I've been using mine for about the same amount of time, and the reminder isn't flashing for me. But I don't refill it everyday, I use it for 2-3 days and then fill it up completely.

This works because the tank expands slightly and the water displaces as it warms up, allowing the reservoir to be slightly looser. You can also place your finger between the reservoir and the pitcher in the spout area to aid removal.
