The studies have consistently found it will not make you weaker. But I would recommend you strengthening your lower back multifidus muscles (see Treat Your Own Spinal Stenosis for more on that) - current research shows strong multifidus muscles can also prevent back problems.

No, I wouldn't recommend it. It gets too tight when you sit very long. It works better when you are up moving around doing something.

You can bend over with restriction. Depends on on how high or low it is fastened around your body. The purpose of the brace is to keep your lower back secure. Bending at the knees helps.

I have had two surgeries at L2-3 and L 4-5. I wear it when I need extra support. Gives great relief and allows the muscles to relax a bit. I'm advised by my surgeon to wear it only when necessary.
