This isn't much help but, I honestly don't know. The only reason/purpose I bought any kind of waffle knit towels was for drying my truck after the car wash. Never gave it any thought to use these for anything else. Sorry but hopefully someone else can be of more help.
They are excellent for absorbing and drying the car after it has been washed. This includes all the glass on the car. I would not cut the towel since it is stitched around the edges - I'm not sure if it would unravel if cut.
Wash in warm or hot water with mild detergent. No fabric softeners , and I'm told not to wash microfiber with anything else. I wash all my microfiber towels together. I also let them hang to dry. I don't put them in the dryer.
