To advoid one overhearing the other, change the wake up name. I have one set at Alexa and one set as Echo.

We have six different Echos - 1st gen echo, 2nd gen dot, 3rd gen dot (traded in my first gen), 1st gen Show, Echo spot and a tap. You can change the wake word of the devices to avoid confusion if more then one are in earshot of each other.

It was driving me mad, listening to music in kitchen while cooking and having my three kids randomly asking questions on there bedroom echos which paused my music on kitchen echo. And if you are using Spotify or Pandora and the other user asks to play music it stops yours and starts playing on there's. It's maddening and I don't know how to prevent it. But one nice thing my wife really enjoys is dinner bell, you can call all the kids to come down for dinner. One that you are closest to well answer you. I have two so far and sometimes my bedroom one well answer my question instead of the kitchen one. By the way I have first generation and the second generation dot, they run on same word.

Absolutely. Amazon would love for you to have an Echo device in every room of your house. I've got an Echo and 3 Dots. Many people have more than that!

I have multiple Echoes and Dots around my house. I however disagree with the idea of renaming them that someone else suggested. I have smart lights and I want just say Alexa turn.... Depending on where in the hallway I am one will answer without guess work on my part.
