The noise cancelling to be very good, and it is passive noise cancelling but works just as good! you can use these to enter your own little world and not be disturbed. I use these on an airplane shortly after got them and found that they were just more effective than noise-cancelling headphones I had used before. The overall quality of sound, of course, was better. For me, the bottom line is that you can still maintain awareness of what's going on around you if you want

I used them on 5 fights over the last couple of weeks and they worked really well blocking out the aircraft noise and background noise of other people but i was always aware if someone was talking to me directly like the air hostess. hope that give you an idea of how they work and battery life is great the single aaa lasted for over 24 hours of fight time. These are the best active noise cancelling headphones in this price bracket in my opinion.

Judging the NC is relative. It will cut about 60% of low end sound. Your will notice engine sounds on a flight will mostly be cancelled. Voice will be muffled but not cancelled totally. For the price they work well. However, if you're a frequent flyer and want the best NC and you don't mind paying the cost. I would suggest going for the Sennheiser PXC 550, Bose Quiet Comfort or the Sony WX1000.

The headphone design and the extreme softness of headphone that covers the ear, cups the ear and do not sit on the ear, assures long term wearing comfort and between the physical isolation from noise and the electronic noise reduction they do a great job for air travel. Where the headphones “NC” feature falters slightly is with automobile transport usage. Being close to a rolled down window with wind turbulence. However, when one considers the cost/quality analysis you quickly see that you have a great active noise canceling headphones for a great price. Also, the questions people posit about Bluetooth functionality and distance for communicating with another Bluetooth enabled device are basically all about the same as Bluetooth and the version/build of the particular Bluetooth are licensed technology that other companies use in their products so in essence, Bluetooth is blue for everyone. The communications distance is more about line of sight and objects between you and the device you are connected to via Bluetooth that will determine effective connection distance. see less

I can’t imagine them canceling out aircraft noise. I can hear a voice when I talk to coworkers while driving trucks. And I hear the truck for sure, without a doubt. But for $89 you can’t really beat it compared to others. But I returned them

I used the COWIN E7 Pros (upgraded) on a flight from Philly to Seattle and it was amazing not hearing engine drone. With noise cancellation on, I was able to watch movies and listen to music with only a tiny hint of outside noise. Very pleased with how these performed.

YMMV on these. I just returned my pair because noise cancelling was causing frequent painful bass pulses in both ears. Felt like an eardrum pressure test.

That could definitely be better, but paired with music the combination works well together.

N/C is fair, and at this price point "good". Not "good" for airplane engine noise - they certainly did cut down on the engine noise, but did not eliminate by any means. I returned min in favor of the Sony's @ 279, but that also means 5x the cost. Products like this really exemplify "you get what you pay for".

If you wanted something at home that BT connects to a TV and dampens house noise, these would be a good purchase.
