How well will it work for plugging in a car vacuum cleaner?

You must check your vacuum for wattage. It has 300 watts continuous power and 700 watts peak. Continuous is for normal operation and peak is for initial motor surge. Both must be below the 300/700 watts rating. Unless it's a tiny hand vacuum, I would not. It was built primarily for electronics and small electrical appliances. Vacuums and blowdryers normally fall in the 800 watts+ range inverters.
