As of today (18 Jan 2019), I called Samsung support to inquire about this. They confirmed that the EVO Plus and the EVO Select have identical specs, the only difference is that the Select is only sold in certain markets. The associate also added that previously, the Select had somewhat lower read/write speeds, but that's no longer the case. I can also confirm, just from shopping around, that the Select is not Amazon exclusive (I have seen it at an online competitor).
Samsung EVO comes with a read speed of Upto 48 MBPS and write Speed of upto 20 MBPS whereas Samsung EVO+ comes with a read speed of upto 80 MBPS and write Speed of upto 20 MBPS
I have both and they appear to be technicallyidentical. Only the color and name and packaging are different and that one had an adapter included.
My 128GB EVO Select microsdXC card was purchased in America here on Amazon and came with an SD card adapter in the package.
My 128GB EVO Plus was purchased in Vietnam (HCMC) and the package did not come with the extra item (sd card adapter).
I suspect the reason is simply marketing. Different markets appeal to different labels/names. The name 'Select' probably would not sell as well as 'Plus' in Asian markets. Just a guess.
Had the same question myself so did some digging. According to the Samsung web site, the specs on the evo select and pro 126G card are identical. However, you can only purchase the select on Amazon.com - you cannot even purchase it from the Samsung store.
Not anymore. They're the same now.
