If your sibling also takes the test, he/she will appear among your "DNA matches " with a description of the probable relation (i.e. first cousin, second cousin, brother, etc.) and a degree of probability.

Absolutely. My test came back as half-sibling to a brother I grew up with. Of my 4 sibs I grew up with, two others tested anonymously (even having friends order the tests for them). It was 100% accurate that all my sibs are full sibs to each other, while I am their half-sibling. It also revealed two NEW half-sibs for me. Ancestry gets it right every time on parent-child and sibling tests.

With this test and the release with a new option to see how much DNA you share you would be able to guesstimate if the DNA comes back and says you are also perhaps cousins, grandparents, parents. One thing to remember is if your hare a half sibling it will how you closer to a cousin i beleive.

Full siblings will be listed as immediate family, half siblings as close family.

to verify the relationship between 2 people, they would each have to submit DNA analysis, and each have to agree to share results. So as long as they both do this, then yes, it would tell you if you match.

Same quiestion I had! Glad I can across it. My step cousins who are twin and I grew up believing just that. That we were nothing more then step cousins. As we became adults and started having children, the twins mother told them that they had the same father as I. Sometimes I can see the resemblance in one of the twins… see more Same quiestion I had! Well one of the twins told me she got the dna test for Christmas and was about to try it out and I told her I am going to get one to so we can see if it is true what was being said.
Where would be the best place to go and find the results? How would we exactly find each other in the data base without going through the many other perhaps matches. Would we just search for each other’s names? Would ancestry.com be the first place we should look? I have a family tree but I really don’t want to fork out $100 right now for results. Could we just go to some of the other links that someone had mentioned here? I am so excited and can’t wait till my test comes Sunday :) see less
