Can I use the alcohol to clean the item when it become smelly?

Warm soapy water should be sufficient, failing that neat washing-up liquid.

Have MANY MANY pair of Crocs and wear some only in the house and some outside (walking dog, shopping, doctor's appointment, etc). When all are dirty, wash them in bathtub with hot soapy water (prefer to use Odoban) and common scrub brush, spray to rinse well, air dry. Then have MANY MANY pair of like-new Crocs...

I clean mine with a Mr. Clean magic eraser. Makes them look like new.
