I used mine for a hard drive I pulled from my laptop. Just make sure it has the right connection.

This should work for that SATA drive. It won't work for the full size drives which require more power, but has worked on every laptop sized SATA drive (2.5") HDD or SDD across multiple brands that I've used it on.

You need to find out what make is this hard drive and/or its specifications, i.e. 2.5 SATA, eSATA, 3.5 SATA; and so forth. This adapter is for 2.5" serial ATA/SATA or SSD (solid state drive) to USB port. Try figuring out this specifications at HITACHI support website.

Yeah, the ssd's don't need an external power supply so it would work just like a flash drive.

This works find if you use hard drive without external case. It didn't work for me because I had Atomos putter case which needs deeper pins to reach in to connect
