We want to point out that lactose is not an active ingredient of Florastor probiotics. The small amount of lactose is simply a part of the manufacturing process of the live microorganism. The active ingredient in Florastor is our probiotic strain: Saccharomyces boulardii I-745.

In healthy volunteers Florastor can stimulates an increase of lactase, the enzyme which naturally breaks down lactose. With over 50 years of use worldwide, we do not see data showing a signal or trend in reporting of adverse reactions or side effects, from Florastor consumers sensitive to lactose.
