1. "Why not Have Alexa in All freaking languages since we are the melting pot of different cultures and religions?" Sounds like a great idea to me. That would be a great help for anybody learning another language as well as native speakers of a particular language.

2. While the U.S. Constitution was written in English, the U.S. has no official national language and the majority population of large swathes of the western states spoke Spanish before they became part of the U.S.
3. A majority of the world's population is multilingual and a small minority speak only one language. With instant online translation available now, the argument that having one common language in a given country is necessary for national cohesion has become weaker.
4. Rather than multilingualism having "to stop", it's the impoverishment that comes with speaking only one language that has to stop if we are to thrive in today's world. see less

My maternal grandparents (Polish) and paternal great-grandparents (Dutch) learned the English language after arriving and had it down fluently in not very many months. It was because they appreciated the opportunity to come here and wanted America to be their home. Now, too many Hispanic people expect us all to speak Spanish to accommodate them. Every phone menu, most product labels are in Spanish and English. This costs us money. I am also not "racist" (and being anti-Hispanic isn't racism, it's a prejudice against an ethnicity); I am one quarter South African black. see less I totally agree; other ethnic groups emigrating to the USA may not have spoken English upon arrival, but they didn't expect, no DEMAND, that Americans make concessions for their languages. It makes you sick that people like to feel more comfortable speaking to Alexa in their preferred language? I’m sure your father would appreciate it even knowing English. Just saying. Paying for the device like everyone else but can’t utilize it the same kind of sucks don’t you think? Lol
