Top critical review
Will start chipping within 6 months of use
January 20, 2018
Like many others, I bought this case after reading the reviews. The case arrived promptly and was well packaged. My new iPad snapped in easily and the case fit it snugly. I have a glass screen protector on my iPad and it did not provide any hindrance to the fit. The trifold case helps prop up the iPad upright for viewing or keyboard style for writing/working. It will not prop up the iPad in a vertical position. The microfiber lining does protect the screen and unlike the Jtech case, does not leave marks on the screen. The case does put the iPad in sleep mode as soon as you close the cover. Drawbacks: the microfiber lining tends to attract lint/fibers that are hard to remove. The magnet on the trifold case is very weak. The case tends to list a little in the upright position and often just flops down in the keyboard position. The effectiveness of the magnet reduces dramatically within a month of use. The back of the case is a hard plastic, which has an uncomfortable feel to it. But most importantly, the case did not last. Six months in, the sections of the case that go over the speakers, cracked and then separated completely. Admittedly the case is priced well, but even for the low price, one does expect it to last more than a few months. For this reason, I give it 4 stars. I find myself in the market for a case once again, but am extremely reluctant to buy this case again.
I am withdrawing more stars. Although I look after it very carefully and have never dropped my iPad, the case keeps chipping off. Additional strips have come off on the bottom of the case and the top side corner by the power button. Additionally, there is a long crack by the camera. The sleep/wake function still works effectively. But the magnet continues to lose its effectiveness with the result that it can no longer be propped up in keyboard position—the iPad simply flops down flat.
