For those that come from that culture, an unforgettable experience. Whoever put this together did a marvelous job - how they did it and where they found the archival footage is astounding. A beautiful experience watching this.
Very happy to find this film to watch and share around in the weeks leading up to Hanukah. It's a rich review of ethnic Yiddish history in the northern european region, and goes into many-facets details about the differences between villages and regions. The special features additional interview footage with radiant, robust elders 100+ years old who hailed from the region and another time are FANTASTIC. These Yiddish roots - before processed foods, heavy sugar, and refined carbs - beckon us to return to some of the ways of a much healthier time in Jewish cuisine culture.
We learned a lot about some of our ancestors - and very much appreciated the topnotch production!!!
Wonderful to see this series of windows into a world disappeared - not just due to passage of time , alas. Really interesting for me personally but also for my high school students who, regardless of their ethnicity or spiritual background, have found it fascinating.
