5.0 out of 5 starsWrangler, Levi's, and Lee's comparison roundup
November 25, 2016
I bought a pair each of regular fit, straight leg, zipper fly Levi's, Lee, and Wrangler jeans. The Levi's(505) were $40, the Lee's $32, and the Wrangler's $20. I washed all of them once, in cold water. They all fit about the same. The construction seems to be about the same too. All had 5 belt loops and reinforced the same points. They all were about the same weight denin. One difference I could find was that the Levi's had two rivets on the coin pocket while the Lee's and Wranglers had one rivet there and sewed the other side of the coin pocket into the main pocket seam. Also, the Levi's print your jean size on the outside label, while the Lee's and Wranglers do not. Both the Levi's and Lee have a double stitched external inseam on the inside of the legs and a concealed inseam on the outside of the legs. The Wranglers reversed this with the concealed inseam on the inside and a double stitched seam on the outside. The length of the inseam, compared to the advertised length, was pretty close, with the Lee's being the longest, and the Wranglers the shortest.

Overall, I would say they all three pairs look like they will be fine over the longer term. So perhaps the price difference and your preference for brands might be the deciding factor.

5.0 out of 5 starsMy favorite jeans
March 20, 2017
Size: 40W x 29LColor: StormVerified Purchase
These are now my favorite jeans. I've never been one to pay more than fifty bucks for jeans, so I've tried just about every lower-cost brand out there. These are by far my favorite. Simply put, there's nothing weird or wrong about them. Some jeans have weird pockets that are either too big or too small. Many have belt loops that are weirdly spaced. Some have flaws in the stitching. These were genuinely perfect. I tend to associate Wrangler with Wal-Mart of my youth, but these are nothing like what you buy in those stores. The material is quite soft after a few washes, the wash and coloring is modern and looks great, and the sizing looks good. It's not too tight or too relaxed, just sits perfectly. Overall, I feel good when I wear them, compared to feeling awkward wearing my other jeans (for one reason or another). I'll be picking up more pairs of these.

Edit: A year later, I have now bought over 7 pairs of these jeans in various sizes from 40->36. All of them have been excellent. As I've sized downward, I can confidently give the older jeans away since they still look great after many wears. I've bought a variety of colors and while I have my personal preferences, all the washes were great. Seriously, for the price, these jeans absolutely cannot be beat.

A couple of preliminaries here. I was friends with someone that used to work at a factory that would sew different name brands on the same clothing before even that factory went overseas. So I'm less addicted to the name of a product line than a particular product that is made at the time. I've worn well and far over a hundred jeans (dungarees for the less metrosexual of us over my far too many years). The only jean that I ever cried over was a very expensive Italian dress jean purchased years ago at Neiman Marcus. For jeans under 90 dollars I've found in general that some of he Wranglers have been truer to size than most others. I understand that someone would be pissed that they received a jean that had a belt loop improperly sewed but this same person worked for a high end retail chain that had to return about 10% of the expensive high-end jeans for defects before being placed on the sales floor. Even then inconsistent sizing was an issue. Barring someone's fascination with the name of a clothing line, with few exceptions I really don't see much of a difference in quality between this 7 loop jean and a jean costing twice or more from other manufacturers including some (which is an irritant) from this same company. Unless someone is looking for a particular type of fit IMO the price justifies the purchase of this jean. I can beat the hell out of it, tear it up, put holes in it and not cry about it because 19 bucks for a decent fitting jean is CHEAP in this market. So what if there may be a defect in it. Return it and get another one. For me that's easier to stomach than having to return one costing much more and having to worry how much wear I'll get out of it. Cheap is good sometimes and not an exact indicator of quality. When I've done heavy duty work that puts more wear & tear pressure on the jean I've tended towards Carhartt. Great jean for wear & tear but an uncomfortable fit (for me) for every day casual & light work wear. As far as shrinkage goes, I wash all my clothing in cold water or dry clean it so I've never had a problem. How someone can wash anything cotton, whether Sanforized or not in hot water and not expect an issue is beyond me.

4.0 out of 5 starsGood Price Point

As other reviewers have stated..I went to these Wranglers because Levi changed the design of the 505 jean which I had worn for over 30 years.

The Wrangler Authentic Regular that I received has 7 belt loops, that is one of my criteria for a purchase. The photo shown only has 5 loops. The long cut for the crotch, typical of the Wrangler brand, is still present, and may take getting used to by some. I find the front pockets a tad on the shallow side. The Wrangler Riggs WorkGear pants have a deeper pocket. For those with a bit of a beer gut, the waste line on these may be too tight, they are cut different than say the Dockers brand.

I am happy with the thickness of the denim, and quality of the construction. The price point is Fantastic at about $20 US, which is half the cost of Levi or the Riggs WorkGear.

I wear these in mostly an office or casual setting, as I have old or other pants for working outside.

5.0 out of 5 starsNice jeans and a great alternative to Levis
October 5, 2018
Size: 30W x 30LColor: Stonewash DarkVerified Purchase
I've been a Levis guy since my teens, nothing against Wrangler but I always liked the Levis styling a little more. But the last 4 or 5 pairs of Levis I bought weren't sized right, usually the waist was too big, sometimes the legs were too long. I don't like having to wear a belt.

So this time I tried a pair of Wranglers. Quality-wise they compare very favorably to Levis, and more importantly they FIT. If I had to complain about anything, the watch pocket is a little too deep for my key fob. But that's a nitpick, for other objects the deeper watch pocket would be a good thing.

I think I'm a Wrangler guy now, sorry Levis I gave you plenty of chances.

Also, I read recently that the Levis CEO says the company needs to do more about gun violence. No they do not, why does Levis corp. need to have an opinion on gun control??

5.0 out of 5 starsExcellent jeans

These are my favorite jeans and I am pleased that Amazon finally got real with the price. The "Regular Fit" is just that -- not husky and not skinny. I am an average build older guy neither fat nor skinny, and these fit me great, although the length tends to be a bit on the long side. These are absolutely what I wear on weekends unless it is cargo shorts weather.

These are the qualitatively about the same Wranglers you can buy at Target. Target variously sells Wrangler "Rugged Wear" jeans, "Premium Quality" and "Authentics" while these are "Authentics". I cannot tell any qualitative difference, or not much difference at all between these three Wrangler labels. Some have a straight line stitched on the back pocket, some nothing at all, and some the Wrangler "W". Other than that I see no difference. The denim seems to be the same grade, the stitching appears to be the same, and the fit is indistinguishable. (I would be interested in knowing what the difference is supposed to be. I tried Googling the issue but no luck.) Now that the price is in line I will be buying them on-line with Amazon. RJB.

First off there were no tags on the garment. It looks as if it has been washed. I tried them on and there was a one dollar bill in the pocket. Hmmmm. I paid for new clothing and I expect to get what I paid for.

You expect Wranglers to be quality work jeans but these pairs haven't been able to take the office life, so I will definitely not trust them in the field. Materials and look wise, they are great, but the quality of the Jean put together is terrible. From the first month it started coming off at the back pocket seams. Now the back belt loop and both back pockets are coming off the seams and showing holes through the material. This seems to be a wrangler issue. I have never had this issue with another Jean company but I did have this with a precious pair of wranglers, but that time it took some years, this time it was from the first month. Too bad, as they are nice jeans but terrible quality.

3.0 out of 5 starsWaist Is 2 Inches too small
April 13, 2017
Size: 34W x 32LColor: BlackVerified Purchase
The waist is about 2 inches too small. I ordered 34x32, This the size of my other jeans is 32x32 and these I can barley squeeze into. Trying to stretch them out by squeezing soup cans into the waistband. Very uncomfortable but seems to be working a little bit. Otherwise the length is perfect. They seem like good quality jeans. I just got these yesterday. Will post updates as time goes on, or maybe I will return them. I have 30 days to try them.
