I though that the first book in this series took me on a wild ride, well this was not different. Lol. This book picks up from the first and just WOW! What an amazing read! We have Leanna and her Wolf Brothers our resident Villainess. Liz, the policewoman, what is really going to happen and can she handle it? James, can he really be good? So many things happening in this next book and I enjoyed every single gory, bloody moment. This is Mr. Morris's 2nd book and I must say it is as well written, if not better than the first! I cannot say enough and I am not going to spoil it for those who have not read it yet. However, you do need to read the first one in order to understand the Lycanthropy virus and Leanna's mad plan to infect all humans and takeover the world. The Government's involvement to try and stop this madness and everything in between. I an an avid lover of Wolves and this was just on the right side of mad, vicious and evil for me to completely and totally stay in love with them, Lol. An awesome 5 star read!! I cannot wait for what happens next!
Wolf Moon is the sequel to Wolf Blood, and boy, it's a doozy. The story picks up immediately after the first book ends, so if you haven't read book one, you probably should do that like ASAP. Trust me. You won't regret it.
Wolf Moon follows a variety of characters from the first book as they deal with the current werewolf apocalypse. You've got Leanna, who's deemed herself Queen of the Werewolves. She and her biker gang of wolves, aptly named The Wolf Brothers, are hell-bent on infecting as many people as possible so they can take over and rule the world. The time of humans is over, according to her.
Then you've got Liz, a policewoman who is trying to deal with what happened to her in the first book. Will she turn when the full moon rises again?
James, a werewolf who betrayed his kind, according to Leanna, is determined not to kill anyone ever again. But when his new friends are threatened, he'll have to make a choice: kill or be killed.
Add in Rose and Vijay, Chris and Seth, and Melanie and Ben, and you've got yourself an interesting cast of characters who are trying to survive not only the werewolves, but the insanity that seems to have taken over everywhere.
The government is adamant that they can keep this new disease from spreading. The newly formed Neighborhood Watch believes they can play God. And the rioters and protesters think they can take on anyone and everyone.
Wolf Moon is just as intense as Wolf Blood, if not more so. It's a crazy ride through the depths of hell, and not everyone is going to survive this one.
I really liked the way the story played out, and the ending left me wanting more. I'm definitely looking forward to a third book.
Although werewolves are horrifying to me, and I normally avoid anything involving them because of my deep-seated fear (thanks, Stephen King!), I can't recommend this series enough. Seriously. So good.
If you enjoy your horror to be visceral and in your face, then you definitely need to check out the Lycanthropic books. You won't be disappointed.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Wolf Moon: The Rise of the Werewolves is the second installment in the apocalyptic werewolf series Lycanthropic. It picks up right where Wolf Blood: The Werewolf Apocalypse Begins left off. The author stayed true to the spirit of the first book - this is a horror, gore filled, take no prisoners apocalyptic werewolf series. Story is told from multiple points of view of characters, both werewolf and human. Everyone's favorite villain from the first book, Leanna, has built up her rag tag team of werewolf warriors and is plotting in her evil lair to take over the world. Meanwhile, some characters are choosing to stay behind and fight or are forced to stay behind for personal reasons while others are trying to flee. Other characters are brought in as well to portray other views of the events, to include government officials. The author continues to portray the human side of the werewolves as he had in the first book. Likewise, the author reminds readers that even though an apocalyptic event is going on, life goes on for some people - teenagers fall in puppy love, guys do everything they can to impress a girl they like, children still care for their ailing elders. Unlike the first book, at times, I felt like the story telling was a bit slow and it wasn't quite clear to me why certain characters were as much of a focus at times as others. I still very much enjoyed the book and highly recommend it for readers who have read the first book or are looking for a good apocalyptic horror series featuring werewolves. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Wolf Moon by Steve Morris is the 2nd instalment in the Lycanthropic Series about the Werewolf Apocalypse. While this book is totally awesome you'll need to start with Wolf Blood, book one of the series. The title says it all this really is the rise of the werewolves and it is everything you'd want in a horror/supernatural suspense novel.
Wolf Moon hit the ground running, New Years was a horror and the werewolf infection has turned into a plague and London has been turned into a war zone.
After the nightmare of New Years, London has been turned on its head. Many are still trying to get out of London while others are digging in preparing for the worst. Along with the people who are trying to flee the city, are the infected and the plague is moving right along with them, undetected it has moved on to other countries and the government has to finally admit they have a problem The Prime Minister, and the military are trying everything the can to stop the werewolves but it is an uphill battle.
Leanne has declared herself to be the Queen of the Werewolves and war on everyone who isn't. To facilitate this she has enlisted the help of the Wolf Brothers, a motorcycle gang to help her fulfil her dream of world domination. Good Luck to anyone who gets in her way.
The government is working to contain the infected in the hospital allowing them to believe they are in control, but it's all another illusion.
Neighbors and Neighborhoods are turning on one another, No one can be trusted, when supply chains are disrupted and necessities are scarce.
The police are doing spread thin and one Liz has survived an attack, what will happen to her the next full moon.
James, the student turned werewolf, has vowed to never kill again. Will he be able to hold on to his vow and his life since he has turned his back on Leanne.
Not everyone will make it out alive and everyone will have lost something.
Great addition to the genre and a great series, I can't wait for the next installment. While it is fantasy, at least we hope, you can totally see how it the story would unfold if it happened in your neighborhood. Not only is the action wonderfully detailed and gory, the characters are rounded out and you feel for their plight.

Steve Morris hit it out of the park once again with Wolf Moon, the second installment in the Lycanthropic series. This being said you have to read book one, Wolf Blood, before diving into this thrilling tale. In Wolf Moon, we follow a series of characters from Wolf Blood through this werewolf infested apocalypse. You will find yourself asking questions to the characters you follow through this story. Can they change? Can she handle this new world? Is he really so bad? Steve certainly knows how to write a well-written story that leaves you wanting more. I said in my review of Blood Moon and I will say now that an apocalyptic tale involving werewolves is so refreshing and genius that you will never look at the apocalypse the same way again. So strap in for a wild, horror-filled, blood-soaked ride that you won't regret taking and pick up your copy of Wolf Moon.
I would give this 10 stars if there was an option...
Suffice it to say... I have two words - READ IT!
I read this book in a day... At risk of greviois bodily harm to myself by a hangry daughter. My phone battery went flat and I panicked as to not being able to finish without being plugged in. Roller coaster thrill a second page turner on epic proportions...
I have plouged through the series like a bowling ball through the pins... STRIKE!
Good story-telling with believable characters in an unbelievable situation. My complaint (as is often the case) is the inaccurate portrayal of military and police responses. While popular culture likes to paint these organizations as slow-witted and easy to catch wrong-footed the reality is they think about contingencies, worst case scenarios, and back-up plans all the time. Advancing a narrative with this in mind just makes a better story.
This second book was even better than the first as Britian tries to prepare for a war against werewolves. The characters have flaws but work to be better humans. James struggles not to give in to the savage spirit of his werewolf side, but sin realizes to save the ones he loves he must find an equal balance. Can hardly wait for book 3. Great series don't miss it!
I read this through in a single setting, to say the story is engrossing is to understate the true nature of this tale. The story is brutal and at times unnecessarily so, violent death comes to the young and the old, the author seems to favor a take no prisoners approach to writing. But. whatever his motives may be, the book is an excellent read.
A different and interesting take on lycans. Story contains melodrama, action, bits of romance, more than one villain, and more than one hero. All in all a treat with a plausible story-line wrested from myth. Good reads on books one and two. Looking forward to book three.
