Book nr 2 takes up the story right where it left in nr 1, its just as well written and a page turner, there are som actions lacking logic and this is the reason for not giving 5 stars but the storyline is good and caracters well described, you get to care for the heros and i find this a fun read and look forward to book 3, already downloaded in Kindle app
Just finished Book 2 of this series and plan to go right to Book 3. Kind of like a zombie tale where an infectious disease is spreading through the world but your turning the population into werewolves not zombies. Very fast paced and great characters - both wolves and humans
Just a great series. Hard to put this book down. No fluff, no indecisive protagonists. Exactly what you’d think a werewolf apocalypse would be like. Great storytelling and great writing. It’s rare when you get both. If you’re looking for romance and happy endings, this isn’t it. If you want a great realistic story that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time, buy it.
Wolf Moon picks up from the previous book Wolf Blood (yes you must read that first).
Leanna has hit the ground running and the British government is left playing catch-up.
‘The news networks were calling it the New Year’s Massacre. Hundreds had been killed in the overnight riots, either in the street battles started by vigilantes, or else by the mysterious and sinister creatures that had suddenly appeared just after midnight, bringing London’s New Year’s Eve celebrations to a sudden and violent close.’
The prime minister has called an emergency meeting of the government’s COBRA committee in response.
Leanna wants to be queen of the werewolves, she’s an idealist who wants to make the world a better place. She doesn’t just want to cure diseases she wants to free humanity from all weakness.
‘Oh no. I’m not mad. I’m a wolf. You see, lycanthropy is a fast track for human evolution. It culls the weak and gives unimaginable powers to the strong. It will transform the world in ways that people like you are too blinkered even to imagine.”
The problem is Lycanthropy doesn’t spread very easily at all. The virus can only be passed on via a bite, scratch or a blood transfusion. It doesn’t spread through casual contact and so it’s not highly contagious but Leanna is determined to help it along and so she’s started to inject the virus. The main problem she faces is the test subjects are dying, the virus requires a strong host, the weak just can’t survive the transition.
Lycanthropy also appears to effect everyone differently. While everyone grows in strength and athletic ability some develop faster reaction times, improved memory, dulled emotion and empathy and in some cases greatly increased intelligence.
With this information we have to fear for the human race.
We catch-up and with all the characters from the first book and it’s through them the story develops.
Chris and Seth are finally heading out of London and towards Hereford. Liz is trying to come to terms with New Year’s Eve and what happened to her. Kevin sees an opportunity and finally feels things are turning around for him, Mihai is his constant companion. James saved Melanie but he’s riddled with guilt about the things he’s done, he’s mourning Samuel and Leanna’s wants him dead. Chanita continues to work to the best of her ability. Vijay, Rose and Drake are in hospital after their New Year’s Eve adventures. Ben is persuaded to help on the neighbourhood watch and Doctor Helen Eastgate has been watching Leanna closely and knows far more than anyone realises but will she get a chance to get this information out.
This is a riveting read and I’m totally invested in these characters and their lives, I need to know what happens next.
As I said in my review for Wolf Blood this is not my normal read. My genre is romance but despite the complete lack of romance this book has me hooked.
Anyone familiar with my reviews knows I very rarely give 5* but this book came very close.
Any quotes I used are from the ARC and may change in the final edition
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the author.
I though that the first book in this series took me on a wild ride, well this was not different. Lol. This book picks up from the first and just WOW! What an amazing read! We have Leanna and her Wolf Brothers our resident Villainess. Liz, the policewoman, what is really going to happen and can she handle it? James, can he really be good? So many things happening in this next book and I enjoyed every single gory, bloody moment. This is Mr. Morris's 2nd book and I must say it is as well written, if not better than the first! I cannot say enough and I am not going to spoil it for those who have not read it yet. However, you do need to read the first one in order to understand the Lycanthropy virus and Leanna's mad plan to infect all humans and takeover the world. The Government's involvement to try and stop this madness and everything in between. I an an avid lover of Wolves and this was just on the right side of mad, vicious and evil for me to completely and totally stay in love with them, Lol. An awesome 5 star read!! I cannot wait for what happens next!
