Heroine Violet has never known anything except the vampire kingdom she's grown up in, with her sister Jade and friends Ash and Rebel, who've been kidnapped by the Angels, (who are definitely not cute/fluffy/benevolent/always nice beings). The street kids are the enticement to get Violet into the Angel world and Violet would do anything to save them from becoming slaves to the Court nobles.
So what do you do, when you've been raised as a vampire and suddenly get lured into a world where your long-lost Mom turns out to be the evil Queen of the twisted Angel world you're now in? You pretend to be just like her until you work out how to escape and save your pals too, before the epic civil war battle between Angels and Vampires breaks out the next morning, of course!
Rosemary A Johns' fantasy paranormal coming-of-age series Rebel Angels, of which Vampire Princess is no 2, is almost a manual for how to cope with the realities of adult relationships and trust and maturity issues in teen to YA youngsters. I can definitely recommend it to fans of Labryinth and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Buy the first two books today and get ready for book 3 - you'll love it!
The author has a unique way of creating worlds. The angels and vampires are both in the Princess life. Nothing is as she has been lead to believe. There is plenty of action, fighting, violence and love. What will she do to find her sister and to survive?
The developments here kept me turning the pages. Lies, deceit, and deception wait for Violet as she navigates her way through the obstacles her mother, Queen of the Angels, has set up for her. But will she choose her estranged mother or those she calls her family?
The search is still on for Jade and the missing children, the angels and vamps are still at war, and Violet has had enough. This princess is fighting back and she is taking no prisoners.
This is an excellent continuation of the series, well done Rosemary!
Violet came to the Angel World, that is not like we would think - the place is dark and SO twisted that you will need to concentrate to keep up. Violet's mother is an angel's queen and she is PURE EVIL here. This book was fast but also had elements of inner speech that made Violet's even more intriguing. Join her in getting to learn Angel's way and how will she go thru any obstacles. I liked that book and I will grab book 3 for sure.
Violet goes to the angels and learns how wrong things are in their world. Despite everything she learns and every mistake she makes - and there are a lot of them- she stays true to her chosen family and refuses to play by the rules and do what is expected of her. She is refreshingly imperfect, but determined to save her friends and as many others as possible despite her flaws.
