Mrs.Love
4.0 out of 5 starsVery good
December 30, 2017
Loved this movie!!! It was quite a surprise to see that thought it it clear that it was produced on a limited budget, the story line was a very good one. The acting was better than expected and in some ways the ending reminds me of my own experiences as it relates to suddenly, being told as an adult about other siblings I had no knowledge of.

Basically, it's just a story about life. Things that can and do happen to all of us in some ways or others; except, the part about the domestic violence issues. Maybe, this is more information than you wish for. But as someone who's been a domestic violence survivor in a previous marriage; the only thing I really found disagreeable in this movie is for a mother to limit herself to telling her daughter about her own experience with this issue and not do anything to protect her or remove her from this situation. I felt it was somehow dismissed as if, she were telling her about something as ordinary as puberty. Stated as if, it were just a natural part of marriage. Something men do when they're stressed, or as she said: "His manhood" was somehow compromised with the loss of his contract as a professional athlete.

Personally, after all, that I've experienced in a previous marriage with domestic violence; if my daughter were EVER hurt/hit in the SLIGHTEST way, shape or form by anyone; let alone, by the one who looked in her face and before GOD, myself and her father promised to love, respect and protect her, I would take my pearls off, jump into my truck and head straight for Home Depot where I would turn ordinary everyday work tools into torture equipment! Because I took ENOUGH of it! My baby will not! That is the only thing I did not like with this movie. Mama should have made sure he understood her baby was nobody's punching bag. That he'd better head to the gym next time with that nonsense.

4.0 out of 5 starsDeeper than you could've imagined
January 2, 2018
Format: Prime VideoVerified Purchase
This movie caugt my attention based on the title but after reading what the movie was about, I was intrigued even more. The movie is about real life situations in terms of one's childhood, dating, and commitment. It brings everything into perspective from family, friends, lies, and learning to be transparent.

I agree with another viewer that sometimes the lighting throughout the movie was a bit shaky, the zoom was out of focus at times, but the message...The message is very deep. I was sad when learning about Carmen's situation especially with how her mother basically condoned the situation based on what she went through as well as her father when he noticed she was wearing the sunglasses in the house. Learn to take more time to care about those we say we love. Ask those uncomfortable questions especially when the person you KNOW is acting different. We have all experienced some type of pain, been selfish, or even straight savage but never ever let someone you love especially your child suffer.

Tomorrow is not promised. We all have to learn how to acknowledge the pain or things that bother us. Address the issue be it US being the issue or the person/people that are hurting us being the issue. More times than not, there's always a solution to the problem, we just have to be bold enough to stand tall, roll up our sleeves and go do it. The ending of the movie was a shocker to me but I was also disppointed on how it ended. I hope this movie will have a PART II. You should not end a movie just like that. Let us know what happens NEXT. LOL

Overall, the movie is thought provoking and it does have a good storyline. If you're interested in watching, I would recommend you do. It may be able to help someone as these are things that some people deal with in life.

4.0 out of 5 starsSolid Movie. Beautiful performances.

This movie had a solid flow and rhythm that enhanced the storyline and characters' relationships throughout the movie. Very mature themes on the brokenness that can perpetuate in future generations when pain and truth is not addressed. The characters were real and revealed how family ties, bad advice, and silent hurt can manifest into ugly truths...sometimes when it is too late. There was some shoddy camerawork but for the most part, the scenes were nicely done. The actors did an amazing job and I especially enjoyed Sean Baker's (the actor who played Troy in the film) depiction of his character. Overall, a beautiful story that will sometimes have you smiling, laughing and even crying. You won't be surprised to notice that this is a story that holds many truths for many black families (and families, in general) throughout the world. Pain, heartache and brokenness does not discriminate, but neither does sisterhood, love and forgiveness.

For what seemingly was new talent, I enjoyed the actors and what they represented. The story line was great and believable. However, understanding their youthful careers. The makeup and styling for the women was not up to par. In some of the scenes the lighting was not sufficient. But overall I really enjoyed the movie as well as the ending. You all well deserve the four star review. Thank you for entertaining us my brothers and sisters!!!

Format: Prime VideoVerified Purchase
Powerful, deep, moving and educational storylines! It was absolutely heartbreaking hearing a mother real her child to stay and pray! Lord knows that was a recipe for tragedy. Advocating and educating is so important. Rasheda Randel, BRAVO for a fantastic story. I'm a fan for life.

Format: Prime VideoVerified Purchase
Excellent movie about how the mistakes of parents can cause fear and problems in the lives of their children, even when they're grown. And how those fears can hold people back from their happiest life. Also shows how both generations can work through those problems, and come to a place of healing. Great cast. Well rounded characters. Really moving performances. Hope to see more from this director and cast!

Started out good....Their best friend dies by way of domestic violence and not one tear shed, wow. Like it is what it is, this movie sucked--BIG time!!
Family, friends excused her husband's 'laying hands on her', until he finally took her life, and it seems to me like it wasn't a big deal.... I started NOT watch this film when I realized that it was about Domestic Violence, but decided to give it a shot, Huge mistake. Horrible.....
