Amazon.com: Customer reviews: TACKLIFE T8 MAX Jump Starter - 1000A Peak 20000mAh, 12V Car Jumper (All Gas, up to 6.5L Diesel Engine), Auto Battery Booster, Portable Power Pack with Smart Jumper Cables, Storage Case
I let the battery completely drain on purpose by leaving the headlights on to test out this battery charger. I have a full size Chevy Silverado with a V8 and this jump starter started the truck right away. Very impressed with this device. No longer would you have to wait for someone to come by with jumper cables or another vehicle.
Edit 6/2/19: still no response from support. 1st support requested video of problem, sent, then cryptic message that they saw 1-star review and no further response, except emails completely in Chinese which google translated as automated response. BEWARE ALL THE FAKE REVIEWS, I'll post photos of cheap interior parts; Tacklife = junk.
Original Review: Got one use only. Needed to use built in lights. Once battery ran dead it could not be recharged, single blinking red/blue light never changes and will not recharge after numerous attempts. Charger output nominal per sticker. Absolutely worthless, look somewhere else. Edit: Been emailing support for 3+ weeks, so far, just generic responses, no action.
I purchased this product Nov 1, 2018 through Amazon. I fully charged it as indicated by all indicator lights lit and put it in my vehicle for emergency purposes. The instructions suggest to recharge it every 3 months or so. Since I am about to go on a trip I pulled it out to do so, and found it was completely discharged. I plugged it in to the house current as instructed and the first light started flashing. In 4 hours the second light started flashing so I left it plugged in overnight. This morning the two first lights were on steady. I unplugged it and lightly tapped the power button and the first two indicator lights and the forth one came on momentarily and the went out. The third indicator light did not come on at all. At this point I am unsure if I have a fully charged unit or not, or do I just have a third indicator light that is not working. What do you think?
For starting the car, it works. Nice compact kit, so fits in the trunk just fine. Using it is a bit to complicated for some members of the family without reading instructions. Hope they don't have to use it in the dead of night because they'll definitely need to read the instructions. However, here's my main disappointment: The description reads "20000mAh , Backup Power Bank With High Current Supply, 12V 10A DC port can power your auto products." I'm not sure about how accurate that description is, really. I tested it to see how much usable power this would actually deliver. I tried to run a 12V, 40W load on it to see how long it would last. At 3.4 A, based on 20Ah capacity , I expected to get over 5 hours of usable 12V. But within an hour and a half the voltage out of the unit had already dropped to 10.8V, which was not enough voltage to run my 12V device any longer. I did not get 20Ah of usable 12VDC performance. Also, the charging cable that came with the unit was defective, so the unit would not charge properly. I replaced it with a USB cable of my own and and the unit charged up fine after that.
This was shipped from California. Because of the battery, it could only be shipped by ground transportation. I waited anxiously for about a week to get it. I needed it to jump start the dead battery in my wife's car. I am very disappointed that I couldn't even get it to turn over the engine. I followed the instructions. When the light turned green, I pressed the boost button. The car alarm activated but by the time it took me to hop into the car, it would fault and the red and green lights would flash. Apparently this is some sort of protection mode which will turn off the battery pack power. I can only assume that either it cannot start a completely dead battery, is under powered or defective. It's warm outside, I doubt that this could even start a partially discharged car battery in the cold of winter. I will probably return it.
9/12/19 - I did decide to return it. I'm disappointed that I had to do this because it seemed to be well made. However, if it can't start my wife's car, it's of no use. The two star rating is because of the fact that it looks well made and may in fact start a car with a partially charged battery and not a completely dead one.
I got one of these Tachlife as a gift a few years ago. It is awesone! It jump starts my F250 diesiel truck batteries wothout a problem! I liked it so much I bought one for each of our adult kids for Christmas and for our other car.
The cables were an updated model from our original model, but I thought they would be easier to use since the boost button was an actual button now. The original model had a recessed button you had to stick a very thin rod into. (I literally used my earring post before.)
After opening them for Christmas, they were charged and placed into the trunk. Recently, I got the newest one out of the trunk to charge the mower battery. I tried, and tried, but could not get the boost button to actually charge the mower battery. Feeling frustrated, I waited for my husband to get home to see whatI was doing wrong. He tried and tried to also get it to charge the battery without success. He then pulled the old model outfrom his car swapped cables and then pushed the boost button. The mower started right up!! As much as I like the ease of an actual button for the boost feature it does no good if it does not work.
My husband and I really, teally like the original model and would give this model ALL 5 STARS IF the cable worked.
