4.0 out of 5 starsSofter, restricted-flight balls with composite core (RLLB1 version) instead of cushioned cork center (RLLB version).

I can't give these balls a bad rating even though I'm a little disappointed in them. They are good quality with grade B leather (instead of C or D like other balls in this price range), so they are durable. However, they have a composite cork rubber center instead of a cushioned cork center which the RLLB version and other higher quality tournament and professional balls have which means they are softer and "restricted-flight" balls. I think 8u-11u leagues wouldn't really notice a difference but 12u-14u leagues would. Power hitters can't hit this ball as far. When pitching batting practice to my son, I'm using these along with Wilson A1074 balls and these definitely don't fly as far or come as hot off the bat as the Wilson's. I bought these because the Wilson's are same price as the more expensive RLLB version of this ball - too expensive for me this year when I'm buying 10 dozen at a time. Last year I paid $32/doz for the Wilson's. Next time I will have to spend more on the RLLB version (instead of this RLLB1 version) to compare. But these are good for pitching, fielding, and catching practice so I can't complain too much. I will even use these for batting practice - soft-toss and on the tee.
