Both brushes broke after only a year :(

I have always loved sonicare brushes and upgraded our models to these when I saw them for Christmas. They were really nice! The cleaning power was amazing, Sonicare has definitely been focusing on upgrades and updates since we originally bought our last brushes 5 years ago.
Suddenly, however, both of ours have become much, much less powerful and one barely functions at all. I can hear the electricity cycling the way it should, but it isn't being transmitted to the brush head efficiently. I like taking things apart to understand how they work when they don't, and took one apart. It seems like the bar the brush head connects to which transmits the sonic vibration is no longer at the correct angle and my first instinct tells me that it was dropped from a high height and landed on the brush head. I also have no memory of this happening to my brush, nor does my significant other to hers. Could it have been from the pressure of holding the brush head against the teeth? When I push the brush head in the opposite direction of how it would bend during normal use, it vibrates much more efficiently.
I now insert the brush head turned 180 degrees from normal installation and it works much better but I can tell that won't last long. Is it that both our brushes were dropped and neither of us thought anything of it, or they really wore down like that after a year? Either way I think that if these weren't defective in some way that brushes should be more durable. Our older Sonicare brushes had no similar problems over many years.I would like to buy Sonicare again, but likely will not until I know for sure the cause of this problem
