5.0 out of 5 starsGreat for crafters and Cricut machine!
September 1, 2018
Used my cricut explore air to cut out this measurement chart with this vinyl! It was my very first time ever using vinyl with a cricut and I am in love! This vinyl is perfect for crafting with! The only problem I had was getting it lined up on the mat correctly because it just wanted to roll back up.
I’ve heard good things about the Oracal 651 which is why I purchased it. It seems to be good quality vinyl. My only complaint is how it was packaged, or the lack there of. The sticker and tape were attached directly onto the vinyl which got messed up when I try to remove it. So some Of the vinyl were wasted because of that.
The vinyl itself is good however, the sticky label ruins part of it! It was hard to get off and left residue & bubbles. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the edge but you lose a few inches due to where it sticks on the roll. I ordered three different colors and two of them were like this. The third one was wrapped in cellophane and the label was on the outside. On the inside, it was tapped together with masking tape which came off clean & easy. Pics attached for reference.
I cannot get this to weed! I have increased the force and it still will not cut through the vinyl. All other colors and types of vinyl that I have cut have weeded perfectly with 1/2 the force that I use with this. I know it is not my blades - they are basically brand new - less than 100 cuts! Unfortunately, I bought 10' of this stuff. When it does cut, it's not a clean cut and when I weed it - it tears the smaller details and destroys the design. I spent 4 hours trying to weed an arrow and some numbers - cut the design 4 times! Trashed all of them.
First off, the seller's tape was so tacky that taking it off pulled the vinyl right off the backing. I work with oracal A lot, so I figured this would be alright for the price and speed of which I needed it. It's thinner than any oracal I've ever worked with, the weeding is RIDICULOUS. I had to remove the vinyl twice to get it lined up, and then toss 2 feet worth because it was so wrinkled and bubbly that I couldn't get it to lie flat again. Then I cut it, and wasted another 15 inches because the vinyl kept lifting during cutting and then the letters were shifting and getting stuck behind the weeding part and it wouldn't release them without ripping. I'm cutting it a 3rd time currently and hoping it works, my order is due tomorrow and this has put me way behind. I will NEVER buy from this seller again.
Update: I just cut the same design I've been trying to make with a brand new blade and a new mat. It's not my machine or the settings, it's this craptastic vinyl. I'm going to have to rework my whole design and do it in pieces with actual quality vinyl. Because it ruined my mat too. Well, not technically when I get a few hours to slowly peel the chunks of backing off the mat and then purchase some tack spray. But ugh. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CRAP! I wasted the entire roll trying to get one design and it failed.
Very upset! I really needed white vinyl and they sent me some blue stencil film that’s not even Oracl brand? And it says that I’m not eligible for a return but I didn’t even get the right product that I ordered! Do not buy this product
I only use Oracal vinyl with my Cricut machine. I just have to say that this is the worst quality I have worked with. The letters all come up when I weed them. They don't stick to my transfer paper, nor do they stick to the items I am trying to apply it to. I am very disappointed in this item. Again, it isn't the first time I am using Oracal 651 -- it's literally the only vinyl I use for projects because of how amazing it usually is. I guess I just got a dud. Thank goodness it didn't cost a lot of money, otherwise I would be even more upset.
take you chances with this supplier if you like, the first time I ordered it I received that crap stencil vinyl that everybody complains about being rolled up to tight causing the inner and outer (vinyl and backing) layers to roll in different arcs and when you unfold it, the vinyl is compressed as the backing will not stretch or compress which causes the vinyl to separate from the backing creating folds and bubbles that make it useless unless you cut it into smaller section and flatten it out, but despite the complaints about that product the supplier still has not resolved the crappy product issues and now has resorted to throwing it at their customers in place of what was ordered in hopes of it not being returned due to it's low cost?, it did have the correct white vinyl product label on it, got that right enough. So I kept the cheap trash bag it came in and thru the product away, reordered it and it came in another cheap UPS trash bag, though they did manage to get me the correct product this time it was apparent it spent some time on the prison transport where a very large refrigerator worked it over because it was to beautiful. Yes more road kill and not enough to burry either, rest in peace white roll of product I have received some product from other suppliers that was shipped in a heavy cardboard tube for no additional cost and I still have the tubes to store my product in, maybeeee........... change is good (that's what the ex told me, she was right) and I would pay a couple of dollars extra for a good solid near indestructible cardboard tube, not like what's at the center of cheap Christmas wrap though. luckily I received a starter pack that had a sheet of glossy white that I used in my brand new cameo 3 silhouette to convert my very unique service mark into decals for the rear side windows of my even brighter and newer 2018 SUBARU WRX STI, So maybe you could say, just send me the right product in the correct domicile and I could maybe turn the tw-elf-ish dollars that I wasted on giving "Mr. Trash Can" a tummy ache into a bright and shiny 5 star rating. us artisan's are good at alchemy in that way, Please take my review with a grain of salt folks, please, you can be certain that I understand that some times people just fall victim to circumstances, poor luck, or moments of "what was I thinking" and remember that every one deserves the right to fail and learn from their failures cus I know I've learned much myself
I also had problems trying to weed this vinyl. I had to trash 2 cuttings. Half the letters would peel up when pulling off excess, no matter how gently I pulled or the angle. I tried to return it and found out that it's non-returnable. I should've paid closer attention before ordering as I would not have ordered it knowing it's non-returnable. This is a red flag. I won't be purchasing this product again.
Not true oracal 651!!! I have gotten loads of oracal 651 and this is NOT it! This is some imposter and the vinyl is crap! Don't buy!!! The blue backing sticks to the cutting mat and tears it when u remove off the mat. And the vinyl doesn't cut well
Other reviewers are right; sticker ruins several inches worth of vinyl on either side of the first flap. Had hoped they would remedy that after so many comments. Also, one of two rolls arrived completely smashed and unusable because it was shipped in an envelope. I love Oracal, and the quality seems okay, but I can't use it due to the damage. Will make my delivery late waiting on a replacement.
I bought this vinyl in May, using it in November. I knew I would use white vinyl for a project eventually and my stock was getting low with my previous stock. The project came that I finally needed this vinyl, a sign for my wedding. The backing stuck to my Cricut mats (I have never had a vinyl do that), it weeded horribly, multiple letters tore trying to pull the excess away. The vinyl cut all the way through (I can see the indent in the backing that is always there after a cut). My entire roll will be thrown away due to not being able to weed it. I do not know how it sticks or holds up. I can’t even get to that point in my project. This vinyl compared to others is extremely stretchy. I have used Cricut vinyl, no name vinyl and have had better results from them than this. This is the worst vinyl I have ever used. Buy at risk.
