... it took a few days to decide if I liked them or not

I'm giving these sandals 4 stars because it took a few days to decide if I liked them or not. These sandals are a nice looking shoe, but I have both arthritis and what we're guessing is plantar fasciitis and I REALLY wanted these to feel awesome out of the box. The heel cup was much harder than I expected from the reviews I've read. The arch support is better than my crocs flip flops, but my crocs are softer with more "give" to them. Now that I have had them for a week, they feel more comfortable. I do have to say though, if the bottom of your heels feel like mine do in the morning, you might want to find a shoe with more of a cushiony heel cup. I feel these sandals are fine for around the house, short-term use. I don't dislike them enough to return them, but because I live in Florida I will most likely try to find a softer sandal to wear when out and about.

I want to give these shoes more stars because when I first got them I LOVED them. They were very supportive and helped immensely with being on my feet all day.
Now the bad. I purchased these shoes on July 11th...they didn't even last a MONTH! I wore them often but not daily. It's summer so they were the perfect on-the-go flip flop. August 1st I put them on in the morning and realize they're suddenly flopping more than they're flipping! Turns out, the sole came apart from the footbed. Upon further inspection it looks like the footbed even shrank a bit. I went to web looking for answers and their site mentions something about "shrinking" due to exposure to high heat and/or water abuse.....it's a FLIP FLOP! Am I supposed to wear it in the winter and keep them dry at all times??? It's not like I went swimming with them on or left them in the sun to tan. If they're that fragile maybe we shouldn't be paying $65 for them.

After 2 years of daily use, my last pair of these wasn't supportive enough for my needs. The shoe still looked good, nothing had broken or anything, but I needed a new pair. After trying other brands that were recommended to me I finally came back and bought these before a cruise. I absolutely love them. After 3 months of wearing them, again, everyday they still give the support I need. I would recommend these to anyone who needs good support for longer outings.

These are my second pair of OluKai sandal / Flip Flop I've bought and they are once again my favorite. I tried them on at a store in my area to double check the fit and I ordered the 10 which is what I wear normally and they fit perfect. I have had issues with my feet and ankles over the years and being I live near theBeach in Florida , Flip Flops are my go to shoe 7 days a week so I need a really good shoe with arch support and softer in sole so they do not tire through out the day. My other's are all leather....and hold up to daily beach activities, and I assume these will as well
I have tried all the popular shoes from Oofos Recovery Flip Flops (which loose their support after a couple of months) to Alegria's, they tend to be bulky and heavy through out the day and very expensive over $120.00. I was a little skeptical when someone suggested to try OluKai's as they are stylish and can run on the high side so, to spend money on shoes that don't hold up to the Hype... But, they are!!!
OluKai come with a Years warranty on workmanship so, that helps too!
Going forward, OluKai Sandals and Flip Flops will be on my feet!

They are cut big I could have gotten a smaller size but hasn't stopped me from wearing them!!
I wanted flip flops that wouldn't hurt my feet. I have problems with my heels hurting an can barely walk at times. I put these on an it was like magic!! After working all day my feet were killing me but I figured I'd try them to see how good they really are,these helped as soon as I put them on!!! I need another pair😊

I usually wear a size 8 1/2 or 9 shoe, but these are absolutely perfect in an 8. The price was a little intimidating, but I have to say these sandals are worth every penny. So comfortable...not the "squish" soft kind of comfy...they are molded to the shape of your foot and feel amazing. I even wear them around the house, which is unusual because I usually prefer to go barefoot indoors. But I don't kick these off the minute I walk inside, like I do with most shoes.
I bought these to replace a pair of Mephisto Helen - which became unwearable after two short years, even after being refurbished. The leather toe thong stretched out so much, I fell out of them constantly. So I can buy two pair of the Olukai Ohana for the same price. Deal!
UPDATE 2019 - Still wearing, still loving these shoes. My go-to summer shoe. Comfortable, but supportive. They still look and feel new, and I wear them every day in the summer. Wish they made a black patent, something a bit dressier. But I will be ordering pink and violet soon.

I have flat feet and now 70.I live in Sacramento, and I was raised on Guam when my feet were young and i travel to Hawaii now a few times a year. I wear flip flops even in our mild winters....Obviously, I hate closed toed shoes...My right hip and leg now pays the price...I get it...more then one podiatrist of recent has tried to sell me the 400 buck-700 buck orthotic to put in a sneaker...I tried one recently on a trial run, and in a few hours the doc had his sneaker back..Of course he said there was no such flip flop to deliver what I needed and my condition would worsen. Not to throw anyone under the bus,my flippys of choice was Teva and Sanuk.and.forget Dr. Scholls inserts. So I looked on Amazon,cause reviews mean alot to me. If YOU tried them and liked them,then maybe me too...WOW...I am an 8,and the fit is true to size,too many colors to choose from,but chose a neutral in Java..I put them on, and immediately thought the arch is too high BUT listened to a few reviews from you gals out there and kept them on...Now I can't take them off,the pain is gone and they seem to have molded to my feet. I found out that one foot is worse then the other. The painful right side foot was definitely flatter, and now they feel equal...All I can say is MAHALO..I AM DELIGHTED BEYOND WORDS.and NO folks I do not work for them....will call my podiatrist and let him know..THERE IS AN ORTHOTIC FLIP FLOP...and it works...

The arches in my feet have collapsed and now I need to have custom orthotics inside my closed-toed shoes to relieve the pain in my knees caused by my flat feet. Now that it's summer, it's flip flop season and the custom orthotic flip flops are out of my price range. I was searching for some comfortable, good quality flip flops with a little bit of an arch and that's when I found these! The awesome reviews tempted me so I gave in and I am glad that I did. They're not a custom orthotic flip flop, but they work pretty darn close! My knee pain has gone down quite a bit. The shoes are a bit chunky for my girly style, but it's worth it.

recently diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis, I needed some flip flops with good arch support. I live in Florida and work from home - so I wear flip flops constantly. I had a pair from New balance that are good, but wanted a few extra pairs. I got these in teal (beautiful dark teal, love the color) and a pair of Vionic Tide II. Comparing the two I would say the Ohana is softer and comfier, but the Vinoc has better arch support. The Ohana is however slightly narrower than normal (my feet are rather wide). My feet are OK, but could be a smidgen wider. I like the strap, the footbed is oh so soft with a velvety cover. Probably makes them more prone to wear, but I'll take the comfy over that. :-) The Vionic seems roomier, which is not something I am that thrilled about, and the Vionic also have this patent leather look on the straps, which I hate. The Vionic also seem to need more breaking in, the straps over the top of the feet is a bit sharp. But after adequate breaking in I imagine teh Vionic would be the better for PF. I am keeping both pairs.

I suffer with plantar fasciitis and have long searched for flip flops with some kind of support. There just aren't many out there but living in New Orleans where the summer heat can become unbearable, they are a requirement! When I found these and saw that they were actual 'orthotics' I figured I'd give them a try. They were pricey but I read a lot of reviews and decided to take the plunge. I wore them for the first time to the St. Patrick's Day parade this past Saturday. I was a little worried because some reviews said to build up time in them but I wore them any way. I was on my feet for over 5 hours and felt incredible! Normally, in shoes without support like this I'd have been miserable. I do have to say my left foot (up the inside of my ankle) was a little sore later in the day but I've worn them every day since and it seems to be going away. The right foot where I have the plantar fasciitis is FINE. I will probably buy another pair as these will be every day shoes for me this summer for sure! Highly recommend!
*** UPDATE: MY PAIN IS GONE!!!
It's now been almost a month since I purchased these shoes. I have been wearing them almost exclusively except for a few cold days we had recently. My plantar fasciitis pain is gone. GONE! I've suffered with it since last summer and even had a steroid shot in November. My feet haven't felt this good in years. It's that first step out of bed in the morning that is the test and I PASS EVERY DAY! I put my foot down gingerly because I am so used to the pain but it's not there any more!
You wouldn't think it by looking at them but they are supportive and man, what a difference it makes. After wearing other shoes on those cold days, I had a bit of pain again but once back in these it was gone in a day or so. Now, I just pray they can keep up with the wear and tear I plan on giving them this summer! I am going to buy another color to alternate with but let me just say I AM IN LOVE WITH THESE SHOES!!!

This is my second pair of Olukai Ohanas; my first one fell apart after almost three years of constant use. I suffer a lot of embarrassment over my heinous hooves. I have significant bunions and absolutely no arch. None. I've had multiple podiatrists describe my feet as "the flattest I've ever seen." They are so flat that I have to wear shoes all the time, or I'll have back and leg pain by the end of the day. These are my around the house/garden shoes, and my favorite on a hot day. For the record, I'm an 8.5, so I ordered the 9, which was the right decision for my feet.
If your feet are pancakes like mine, they will creep to the very edges of this shoe, but the support is similar to a quality orthotic. They're solidly constructed with great tread at the bottom, so you won't go sliding in the mud or rain. The fabric toe grip is comfortable and perfectly aligned, and the wide toe box is great for mutants like me.
Is it expensive? Depends on how you look at it. For me, $10 flip flops that look like clown shoes are expensive, because the item itself is trash, and will probably need to be replaced in a few months. This is expensive to the environment, and as a repeat purchase. I spent basically $22 a year to wear a shoe all the time -- and almost *nothing* is comfortable on my feet. I could create a tower of all the shoes I've tried that ended up a waste of money. These would not be a part of that tower.
Whether you walk a lot or just a little, or are looking for a slipper or a sturdy beach shoe, this sandal is all of the above. Your wallet might whine a little, but your feet will thank you over and over (and over) again.
