Works okay but I left it plugged in over night and it killed my car battery. I am changing my rating to a 5. The company read my post and sent me a brand new Nulaxy with a power button so I’m able to turn the device off when it’s not in use. And it connects to my phone and radio with no issues. Thank you for taking the time and reading my review!! Great customer service!!! Well even with the power button it will not play through my car stereo now. It does however charge my phone.
I used to love it as it worked seamlessly for me for a year and a half (got it in May 2017). Last week, out of the blue, it started to randomly drop the connection. The weird thing is that the display would still show an active Bluetooth connection with my phone. Likewise, my phone would still show an active Bluetooth connection to the device but the only sound would come through my phone's speaker. Manually disconnecting and then re-connecting the Bluetooth connection on my phone, would do nothing to fix the problem. The only thing that worked was to unplug it and re-plug it back in, wait for it to automatically connect to my phone's Bluetooth, and then resume the music/audio on my phone. Although it worked every time, the fix would last for a minute or two at a time. Finally, in an effort to stay safe on the road, I gave up. I see a few other reviews describing a similar problem soon after purchase, which is curious because my issue began occurring only after 1.5 years of use. Still, I would think a lifetime of this product would be longer than 1.5 years.
This product works well but sometimes I need to change the station it broadcasts on because it starts picking up a some clicking noises. But for those cars without built in bluetooth this thing is worth the money even with my 3 star rating. The reason for the three star rating is that occasionally without my knowledge the unit changes stations. I usually keep it around 87.9 on the FM dial with an FM preset set to that station so I can easily answer a phone call and rout it through my speakers. Then sometimes I answer the call and hear only static and then look down to see the unit set to a random station like 102.3. Then I scramble around to get the stations changed, which isn't exactly safe while driving, so that I can actually get the phone call. If you are always using your phone for streaming music this won't be a problem because you would check this before pulling out of your driveway. For me who listens to a lot of talk radio I don't normally use the bluetooth function except for phone calls.
I purchased the base model to use for a Blue Tooth to Auxiliary connection on my car radio. I noticed that the noise generated by the Nulaxy was annoying. It is a constant hum and static when music is not played. When music is played,, unless very loud, I can still hear it. I know that the source of the noise is the Nulaxy itself, and not my phone because I hooked my phone ear jack directly to the aux input on the radio and it was silent. I thought that the new upgraded version of the Nulaxy would have reduced or eliminated the noise, but it is still just as bad. The designers of the device need to pay attention to this because if they can solve this noise problem, the device will be perfect.
Had this for over 3 years and it worked perfectly, quality was always crystal clear no issues. Recently I ran into an issue, it would sometimes randomly disconnect from my phone and unpair from Bluetooth. Wasn’t too bad but after a while it got frustrating having to go on my phone and reconnect every ten minutes, but quality of sound was still fine. Ordered a new one, with the confidence that it would last me another year but I’m extremely disappointed, quality has gone down. I bought the mint blue one so I’m not sure if this makes a difference somehow, but the static is AWFUL! I tried every station, and awful static. Weirdly, when I accelerate in my car the static gets louder and makes a “whizzing” noise? I thought maybe the area I was in just had a bad radio signal, but I tested this by plugging my old one in and what do ya know, perfect crystal clear. I’m disappointed, loved this device but the quality is poor now. Maybe I’ll return and try it one more time, possibly just got a faulty model, but either way I’m quite frustrated.
I really wanted this to work but it didn't. First, tons of static on any station and tried this in multiple location in my city. Second, although the rest of the product seemed sturdy enough, the connector was made of cheap black plastic and no matter how much I tried, it would never fully 'connect' and turn on when plugged in. You had to shimmy and pull it out a little, turn it a couple different ways, all the while the product is turning on and off. There was no 'plug and play' with it. Really disappointed with this product and for now, I'll just stick to burning CD's. The screen was nice, bright and easily readable for the couple seconds it did stay on. :/ One star.
Edit: Company offered me another one free of charge so I tested it out for 2 weeks - both in my hometown (metro city) and traveling into rural countryside through alternating stations. After review, it turns on now (thank god lol) but it's still really difficult to insert and is super tight (I have a Mercury Sable 2002). It so tight-fitting that I've hit my hand on the middle console trying to rip it out. I guess I'd rather have it too tight than too loose and falling out. Second, the static is always present and the intensity of it really seems to depends on the weather and other vehicles around you also using this sort of thing. Sometimes it was barely noticeable and other times, I stopped using it because the static was loud. Also, keep in mind what kind of music you are listening to, anything with soft tones and no heavy base line, you will definitely hear the static. Overall, I added another two stars-would I buy it again with this replacement I received? Probably not but if you have no other options and are looking for something cheap-this can work most of the time. Next time I'd definitely pay more for a product with an on/off switch.
UPDATE: They contacted me via email after I wrote this review - and tried to bribe me with a gift card or new product in exchange for a 4 or 5 star review. I bought this because it had pretty good reviews, now I have to wonder if they were all bought and paid for. So shady - I did report it to Amazon's customer service.
So at first I loved it! The microphone was terrible so I rarely used it to make calls but I did stream music through it all of the time. I removed it every time I turned my car off so that it wouldn't be plugged in when I started it back up. Still, less than a year later I died on me - one minute it was fine, the next, nothing. I will be replacing it but I won't buy this one again, going to try to find something with a better microphone.
I must say I was super excited when I found the Nulaxy KM18 FM Transmitter since I have no aux in my car. Seeing so many good reviews and the great price definitely sounded like a good idea. Delivery was super fast. I followed the instructions, set up is kinda easy once you find a free FM frequency with reduced noise. Sound is very good from my smart phone through the Bluetooth. You have to play a little with all 3 volumes to figure out best way between phone volume, KM18 volume and car stereo volume. But when it comes to turning the device on and off there is no way to do that. So you have to unplug it and plug it back in everytime. And another thing that is very unpleasant is how hard you have to fight the device to go in the car charger/lighter and how difficult it is to take it out everytime. To be honest I may not keep it because of those reasons. I don’t want to damage my car cigarette lighter plug and not be able to even charge my phone.
I got this for a small mp3 player I have where I play my audiobooks, music, and podcasts. As the car I just got doesn't have an auxiliary input I tried this and another product and learned that it completely didn't work at all. I did try out the Bluetooth with my phone just to see if it had any redeeming quality before I returned it and it worked pretty well, but I will admit I didn't use it enough to be thorough but felt I should give it the benefit of the doubt which is why I am giving 3 stars instead of 1. Hopefully you only want the Bluetooth and if so this might be fine for you, but it wasn't good for my needs.
We changed the aux cord. Instead of using the one it came with, we used a different aux cord we had on hand. The static is decreased. Not totally clear. But better then before. And found a different station. Changed from 107.9 to 107.5 that also helped. So far so good.
Too much static! Ordered it as a Christmas gift for my husband's Chevy Tahoe 2004 truck. We thought it was the aux cord that came with it but static was still there without the aux cord connected. The interruptions over bluetooth shouldn't be so static as we live in a busy city area.
