Synth Pop with Real Depth and Weight...oh, and great fun, as well

Outstanding synth pop, or really more properly, mature Electronica from one of the original purveyors. Gahan, Gore, et. al. combine a great feel for synth sounds with superior pop craftsmanship. For "Deep Tracks" types this is not your album, but it is deeper than some of the lighter fare they produced early in their career. The title, "Music for the Masses" is just ironic enough to have some weight, as many of the tracks are. The opener, "Never Let Me Down" is a great example - a roaring synth anthem that nonetheless plumbs some pretty dark depths: "I'm taking a ride with my best friend, I hope he never lets me down again". Great stuff.
