Great Value for your Money

This is worth the price. If you're looking for a shotgun microphone that won't break the bank this is your mic. I came across this microphone while searching for a small shotgun mic to use with my DSLR and I am glad I discovered it.

It has a metal build which makes it feel premium. It also comes with a suspension system (red stand) which defeats handling and shake noise caused by movement while shooting.

I especially enjoy the windscreen that's included in the box which eliminates wind noise when shooting outdoors.

The biggest sell for me is the included TRS to TRRS cable. This cable allows you to connect the microphone to your smartphone. Since this microphone is phantom powered there's no need for batteries. You just plug it in and it works.

The sound quality is good. It did a great job during the video I included below. Honestly, I can see myself reaching for this over my pricier mics because of it's small form factor and light weight.

I gave this a 4 of 5 stars because I feel the vocal pick-up feels a little thin. Other mics are on the warmer side.

But this could easily get 5 of 5. If you're looking for a good shotgun mic, that comes with loads of extras. Buy this thing.

This microphone doesn't work as expected at all

There is no difference in the audio quality in the recording with this microphone. Without the microphone it sounds the same! If Amazon Would allow to upload more than one video I would show you the differences. in.

A waste of money for me.

This microphone does not meet the requirements. And does not provide me with what he had to provide. such as eliminating wind noise and environment noises around. In terms of sound quality it hardly sounds better quality. with my Nokia 7 Plus this microphone is not even at the level of the phone Sound recording quality . The windshield does not seem to help as much as you will see in my videos.

Another annoying little thing is that there is not a 1/4 "Male to 1/4" Male Threaded Camera Screw Adapter for Tripod Mount Holder in the box. So you have to order it separately and it takes time and does not even pay. So with the arkon tripod I bought, it will not be possible to Mount this microphone straight out of the box.

When I was filming, I was in the car with all the windows closed except for the driver's window that was behind my cellphone and with the microphone plugged in and pointed at meClose to my mouth.

Sorry for all the spelling mistakes that were up to this moment, I used a Google translator and when I saw the result and came to correct the spelling I could no longer correct or delete my review.

Very good audio recordings for it's type (short range, shotgun for smartphone and dslr cameras to do "run and gun" style video where higher pro audio quality is not needed). The gain is strong. Metal build is good. Compares well with Rode small video mics and Boya M1 lapel.
One star taken off for the poor "shock" mount. It snapped when I checked flex with my finger (see photo) because it is stiff, cheap plastic. Looks like a shock, but almost no flex. So far, not able to find replacement. Maker should change to compare with Rycote shock mount used by Rode. I would recommend for value even with poor shock.

Works good but giving it a 4 becasue it's really a rebranded BOYA which is 10 dollars cheaper most places. However it worked just fine on my iPhone SE, Nikon D5300 and Sony AX53. Loader and deeper sounding than my Rode Videomicro. I might like the Rode better in terms of sound but that preference is very slight. Also the cable on the Rode is better as both ends are angled. This makes a difference in mounting. That said the Movo/BOYA includes a cellphone cable which the Rode didn't. The dead cat is also just as effective as the Rode. The below photo has the Movo/BOYA mounted on an AS20 action cam. The Rode is mounted on my AX53.

This is the best "cheap" alternative shotgun mic

I did a lot of research before buying this mic. Lots of youtube videos said this was the best cheap version of a shotgun mic. I can't disagree, it gets great audio performance for my videos sadly it still picks up echos in my room that I use for recording, but I guess i need a lav mic for that. It is ok at reducing wind noise with the wind sock on, if you have heavier wind you can still pick it up. NOTE FOR VIDEO MAKERS if you are using this mic mounted on a camera, make sure you are pointing it toward yourself. I made the mistake of keeping it mounted to my DSLR while I recording and just talking behind the camera about what I was recording, DON'T do this, it makes terrible quality audio because the mic is only used for carioid direction, so right in front of the mic. If you want to speak while recording behind the camera, just turn the mic so it is facing your voice. Other than that I think the shock mount could use a little work. It still picks up a lot of noise when I move the camera around.

Best no battery shotgun mic for Canon

This is a lot more sensible than the Rode Video Micro, so for those who own Canon cameras, with awful preamps, it's a better option.

1 star off because the shock absorber isn't as flexible as it should, and the TRS cable included, can't be turned around because it won't stay in place (straight part has to be connected to the mic and angled to camera, if you connect it the other way, the straight part gets disconnected from camera). TRRS is not coiled also.

It's awesome that includes all the the accessories.

Only had if for a couple days as of this writing, but it does a decent job of being a mic.

At this point I've only used if for inside video work and don't used the dead kitten cover for that.
The mic and cables appear to be very good quality, well produced, the shoe mount/shock fits very tightly to the mic, and is rather rigid plastic. Not sure how much it will isolate the mic from camera body noise and such. The shoe attachment point fit perfectly, and is easy on/off as needed.

At this point is appears to be a good purchase of a simple external camera mic.

Big difference from phone mic!

I purchased this to shoot short interviews with my cell phone. Really improves audio quality and helps reduce ambient noise. I'm standing pretty close to my subjects (maybe 3ft) so not sure how well it would work further back. Does not attach directly to phone, I use a phone grip handle holder that has a mount which the mic attaches to. Red part that holds mic seems a little fragile but no issues so far.

One other note. This did not work with the regular camera app on my phone (Moto g5). I did a quick search and ended up using Open Camera, free from the Google Play store. Went into audio settings and switched to use external microphone.

Well for paying the extra money to get it next day my package arrived with the box open and that makes me feel like I’m getting an open box refurbish Itiem but it still works and love this mic . For the price and all the review I seen in glad I didn’t go with rose as I am a beginner with dslr camera . Looks good on my canon eos m50 .

Microphone holder snapped. How can you possibly even fit it in.
Ordered this product before doing in depth research. Looks like the thing that holds the microphone snapped. I was aware when I got it and tried to gently put it in. It still snapped. What a joke. Get the rode.

***Customer service is great, they replied to my email within like 20 minutes. They will help you out, shoot them an email.*** Product would've been perfect if the clip didn't break. You literally have to push that thing in there, but also try not to break it at the same time. Good luck with that. I still stress that their customer service is unmatched and timely. Hat's off to the department. I wish I could give you a 4.5 starts or something.

Very good outdoor mic

This is a solid mic for capturing directional sound outdoors. Just point the mic at your subject and you’re good to go. Sounds from behind the camera aren’t captured and the subject is captured clearly and cleanly. I haven’t tested the range yet, but I’ve captured sounds from at least 50 feet away with ease.

Oh one warning. Do NOT use this mic indoors unless you have a special sound room setup. If you do have such a setup, stop looking at cheap mics. Anyway, the mic will captured and accentuate echos and your sound will be unusable.
