Amazon.com: Customer reviews: USB Microphone Kit 192KHZ/24BIT Plug & Play MAONO AU-A04 USB Computer Cardioid Mic Podcast Condenser Microphone with Professional Sound Chipset for PC Karaoke, YouTube, Gaming Recording
The MAONO Microphone Kit is one of the best pieces of technology I’ve ever come across when it comes to microphones. I am a co-host and producer of my own podcast and prior to testing this bad boy out I was using a Blue Yeti Mic with a pop filter. Which wasn’t bad but certainly is below subpar compared to the more concise audio I was looking to produce.
Not only does the microphone kit come with a pop filter but you also receive a wind condenser, an arm and a Shock mount. Also worth noting is the USB cord that it comes with an extra long USB cable which is perfect for all types of Gaming rig set ups, which was convenient for my given my current situation and also why I hated my Yeti Mic.
The microphone itself was very lightweight and made out of metal which was amazing and provides such a sense of high quality to the product that you forget the product is under $100.
The microphone arm is pretty standard in size although I couldn’t help but feel that the arm was a lot stiffer than what’s to be expected when opening a new product so it’ll take some time getting use to to adjust the arm where you prefer.
Now the pickup pattern is cardioid, so the close you are the mic the more sound it will pick up. Typically I sit around 4-6 inches away from my microphone and the sound produced was very standard of course being 1-2 inches away from the microphone the sound will be louder. Not obnoxiously loud unless you’re screaming but talking very standard of course.
It has also made it easier for my to edit my podcast audio due to it only picking up sound that is right I front of the mic. Unlike my yeti which would pick up sounds from not only me sipping on water but also from typing on my mechanical gaming keyboard.
Now that isn’t to say that it isn’t going to pickup sound from what’s in front of it. But so long as other sounds like crunching on chips or pressing hard on your keyboard it shouldn’t pick up too much of the sound especially if you are using the arm extended to your leverage.
All in all it is a very good piece of tech and is a great starter pack for those looking to be content creators, streamers, podcasters, etc but are tight on funds.
Great value with this mic. I had this put together and connected to my desktop computer in about 10 minutes. I haved used it for online gaming and people say i sound good and clear. I also use it with WIN10 to talk to Cortana and it seems to understand me just fine.I am going to try live streaming with it.I feel the build quality is good. The boom scissor arm moves effortlessly so adjusting it is a breeze. I would have liked to have some kind of clips to hook the cable onto the scissor arm but i will figure that out. With what you get for the money it's a great value.I recommend it for those on a budget or starting out. Very satisfied with this microphone so far.
I use this mic primarily for streaming using StreamlabsOBS and doing voice chat over Google or Discord. It's easy to set up and comes with everything you need to start using it. It's a little quiet in StreamlabsOBS and I have to move my gain level almost to the max for people to hear me. It does produce a very clear sound though and has been fantastic for voice chatting. I haven't noticed any background noise or it picking up my PC noise. It's USB and plug and play, so it's very user friendly. The one thing I do recommend is checking your PC sound settings and making sure your mic input volume it up enough.
I've been looking for a decent mic and boom to use on when I start making youtube videos. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money but i didn't want to go the cheap route either and have bad quality sound on my videos. I settled on this mic and boom combo set. It shipped within 2 days so that was great. The unit itself has exceeded my expectations so far. Easy to use, the boom extends and retracts easily as well. Sound quality is satisfactory for my needs. Overall i thing i made a good choice in picking this one up for the price.
I use the USB microphone kit for YouTube videos and live streaming on Twitch and it works pretty good. It's quieter than my old microphone and I had to turn up the windows sound settings to 100%, but other than that I have no complaints. Check out my review video for more information about the MAONO USB Microphone Kit.
The Maono microphone bundle is very good value. Sound quality wise it is about on par with other great USB microphones at around this price point. A full metal construction and all the accessories you will ever need are included in that white box. Excellent for Twitch and YouTube and I do recommend it.
There were however things that I would love to see them improve on in a future version: 1. The absence of a tally light to let you know when the microphone is on. 2. The absence of a volume control knob or buttons of any kind. (This is important but currently absent.)
Beyond that it was an excellent purchase and the quality of the audio being the most important thing is probably the area where this excels the most.
Sorry. It's just not a great sounding mic and makes no sense to have to put my face right up against the mic to the point my lips touching the pop filter to get good sound quality. I've messed around with Banana VoiceMeeter and OBS and other equalizers but the sound quality shouldn't be as bad as it is. That's what I get for cheaping out on a mic. The stand, however, is great (but creaks a little). Maybe I'll be able to find a use for it with a new mic.
I purchased this as a replacement for another one i bought that did not work on my computer not sure if it was just defective when i got it or what but had issues getting connected and when i did i got a high pitch noise. This one tho worked right out of box i plugged it into my computer took a few seconds to automatically install drivers and started working with no problem. One of the reasons i went with this one is the ability to connect with a phone or tablet with an otg hub. I will be buying one to try out but so far i am really impressed with the quality of this microphone. highly recommend!
I originally purchased this to work with my ASUS and it worked well! I have now purchased a new laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad) and I cannot get it to work at all. I've messed around with the USB ports, I have tried to change the mic settings in the laptop but as a whole the USB port and the mic will not be recognized. How do I know it's the mic? Because my laptop does fine with my old CAD microphone.
ON TOP OF THIS I cannot get Maono to help with this as their own website will not allow me to fire off an email under their "support" page! I am MORE than willing to change my review as this DID work beautifully - but only if I can get some support.
