New Vinyl Review: I Love It.
Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2015
Love may not be a strong enough term for this album. I have been a Stones fan since the 60s. However, for the most part it was album cuts rather than entire albums I sought from them. The one exception I can think of was "Some Girls" where I owned the entire album. To be honest, this album came out when I was nine. I wasn't even a big music fan until I was twelve or thirteen. While I had heard at least three songs from the album in later compilations or live albums, I had no idea just how good the total album was. If you do not own a single studio album by the Stones and you are looking for the first to buy, this is the one to get. Personally, I would say get it on vinyl then listen. I don't mean turn it on in the background while you play with your computer or tablet. I mean clear the decks and just listen to this album. Listen to it fairly loud. Think about the amount of guitar work that Keith put into this. Listen to the depth of sound. Listen to the great drumming Charlie was doing. If you really listen, I believe you will be amazed before the end of the first cut just how staggering this achievement is. I'm not talking one of the best Stone's albums. I mean this is one of the best Rock and Roll albums ever by anybody.
