I bought this for my niece for Christmas because she loves the dolls. She LOVES this activity kit. She has been doing activities and letting her imagination go. It's been fun to watch, this is a great gift!
My 9 year old daughter loves writing and crafts, so I thought this would be a perfect gift for her. I was so wrong! This kit just misses the mark on so many levels. For one, it tries to do too many things, and does none of them well. The 3-in-one part of this kit refers to the "dress up dolls" (cardboard cutouts), journal, and scrapbook. The "surprise" refers to fact that lots of the stickers and one of the dolls is covered with scrape-away paint for a scratch-and-reveal surprise. The jokes on you, though, because there's nothing cool under the scratch-and-reveal. The problem is that a very young child (6 or 7 and under) will not have the patience to create a cool journal or scrapbook, and (from my experience with 5 kids) will just blast through the whole kit in about a single sitting, just putting stickers everywhere and a few words per page, if that. But an older kid (8-9+) who wants to take more care in creating a scrapbook or diary will not find much in here to inspire. The stickers are just stupid, with phrases like "Ga-ga" and "Hey Momma" or "Hi Bae"....seriously, what child uses phrases like that? Plus the materials in this kit are just cheap, and the price is outlandish for what you get. If it were a third the asking price, I'd probably still think it was overpriced. They couldn't even be bothered to include a glue stick, which is absolutely required to do this kit (even the instructions call for one). This is just a lot of cheap cardboard with dumb designs, a miniscule amount of decorative glitter glue, and a couple of pens. Unless you find this on clearance at Goodwill, I'd look elsewhere for a scrapbooking kit.

For about the same amount of money, you could get the LOL Surprise Fashion Plate kit. If you don't already have it, skip this and buy that instead.
This kit is mostly really low-end junk. Like it aspires to be dollar store quality. Every single piece seems to be taped in, and because so much of it is just cardboard, the chances of every piece making it out of the packaging unscathed are slim to none, without adult intervention.
Once you have everything out, it's really mostly stickers that you can put on the cardboard cutouts. My kid got bored with it in a matter of minutes, and in a week's time, it hasn't been touched. I can't say I blame her. It just seems like a compilation of things a store would give away for free as promotional items.
That's why I pushed the fashion plate kit so hard. Again, for about as much money, you get something that's more fun and lasts longer.
