Two detectives of the NYPD get involved with a sniper taking out Russian ex pats . This sniper is the Wolf. Brought up by the state he excelled at everything thrown at him no matter how difficult the training. He is schooled in tactics, language and the art of murder. When ready he is sent to America and resides in NY. He cover is so deep even the Russian premier has no knowledge of his actions. The only contact with the homeland comes once a month in the form of a phone call.. and should he not hear from his handler monthly he will simply continue the mission...eliminate all Russian dissidents that forcefully speak out about what Russia actually is all about.
A good read from beginning to end. There were moments when I congratulated myself on knowing the identity of The Wolf long before the detectives had a clue but the double twist was unexpected and brilliant. Highly recommended.
