Turned my Late-2012 MacBook Pro into a Chromebook killer

I had been contemplating swapping the HDD in my wife’s Late-2012 MacBook Pro with an SSD as a permanent replacement for my underwhelming Acer Chromebook but couldn’t stomach paying $100 for upgrading a casual computer. When I saw Kingdian’s price for 120GB I had to try it out.
I was able to install High Sierra from after formatting the SSD in about 20 minutes. Swapped the HDD with the fresh SSD with High Sierra installed and the first boot worked flawlessly (25 seconds on the first boot). The SSD works like a dream on a stock 2012 MacBook Pro with 4 gigs of RAM. Putting the chromebook on eBay tonight and I’ll make enough to upgrade the RAM and swap out the old battery too. Hopefully the SSD will keep the MacBook alive for another six years!

NOT Happy!
First of all - - - - - - - it took me over three weeks to get these Drives,
and second of all; one out of two drives has failed!
I'm not wasting anymore time with these Generic Junk SSD's; it's too
much of a hassle dealing with random failures after a week and a half of use.
I also had a Silicon Power Drive fail last year, so I'm not feeling too happy with these
no-name drives.
I going back to the slightly more expensive but reliable Crucial and SanDiak Drives.

Good overall performance for the price, however, write speeds are not even close to what is stated in the listing. Read speed is good enough at 412 but write speed is only 145. I bought three of these, one is installed in an NGFF to USB 3.0 Stick adapter and the other two are installed in a NGFF to 2.5" SATA3 HDD enclosure. They all have about the same read/write speed performance, plus or minus about 2%. Still a great buy for under $20.

A year later, the disk failed. It is on a laptop that I barely used as a media PC hooked to my TV. I thought these drives were supposed to last longer than the old SATA drives. Meanwhile, I have WD on my home office computer which I used daily and install/uninstall all kinds of programs and it is still going strong. Don't waste your money.

I used this SSD for awhile now and it works very well in my laptop, which only has SATA II, so I knew I wasn't going to get the advertised read/write speeds. It does make a difference in boot times (less than 20 seconds as opposed to almost a minute with old mechanical drive). The package contained just the SSD and mounting screws, no bracket to mount in a 3.5" bay, which was fine as I was putting it in my laptop anyway.
Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the product and would consider buying another one in the future.

Works well speeding up my old 2009 mac mini. Reinstalled OS X High Sierra on it and it boots very fast even with the core 2 duo. I estimate it takes around 15-20 seconds. Programs open rapidly as well. Makes a 9 year old computer feel snappier. Kingdian brand is dubious and I am curious to see who makes the NAND in it but not enough to void the warranty. I have two Kingdian SSDs, one an older model and this one and have had no problems so far.

Pretty sure it was doa because the packaging didnt look damaged or anything. These things happen, but it was so cheap and I waited so long to write this review that I'm pretty sure theres nothing I cab do about the problem now.

The KingDian 2.5" SATA III Internal Solid State Drive is an amazing, low-budget SSD which provides adequate read and write speeds. These speeds are great for an operating system like Windows 10; my PC was able to boot up in 7 seconds.
As of right now, I've been using this SSD for around 2 weeks with no issues. It loads programs in a flash and has enough storage to keep all of my main programs on it as well as some games, including the memory hog, Skyrim.
This is a great introductory SSD and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants an SSD on the cheap side.

I bought this while building my dad a new PC. He mostly uses his PC as an internet browsing box so 120 gb is fine for him. He was blown away by how much faster his PC loads now. Given the price, I highly recommend this as an OS drive.

Bought this to boot my OS from (and it significantly improved boot time [of course, all SSD's would do that]). The price is really right for the product so I bought it.
