Great water boiler!

I am a college student and I really needed a small water boiler mostly for making tea and hot chocolate. So something small, not to take too much space and preferably fast was needed. Since I live in dorms and I am not all the time in the room, I couldn’t go with something super cheap and neglect the safety aspect, but at the same time my budget is a bit limited since I am still a student.

This water boiler was the perfect solution for me since it took into consideration all my concerns. I very much trust the brand, the price is affordable and it is small and fast!

I bought the refurbished one, which made it even cheaper and I feel better for recycling! I have been using it for over half a year and so far never experienced any problems and have no complaints at all. Definitely recommend to anyone who needs a small fast water boiler!

Update: Sept 7, 2017

I wanted to add that I have been using this now for quite a while and am still super satisfied with it! Nothing ever malfunctioned or broke!

HAMILTON NO DAY AT THE BEACH

Extremely disappointed, used this product about 20 times and thought it was great. Then one morning hit the start lever and went about getting ready for work, returned to the kitchen to find that the unit was boiling water like crazy, water all over the counter and dripping down on my hardwood floor, unit almost boiled dry and would have if given a few more minutes. Tried the unit again after letting it dry out completely and the same thing, did not shut off, just kept heating until the water was ready to blow out the top. Contacted Hamilton Beach as I was just outside the return window and they were happy to send me a new unit as long as I paid SHIPPING AND HANDLING $12 BUCKS. I purchased on a lightning deal for $16 Thanks a bunch HAMILTON BEACH. So in the recycle bin and I will never buy a Hamilton beach product again. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE REVIEWS THIS IS JUNK

Breaks after less than a year of use, could be the safety fuse BUT...the bottom of the kettle is held in place by what can only be China-specific 3-slotted screws. So, I can't replace the fuse (as another user suggested). Hamilton-Beech's recommendation? Send back the kettle and get a replacement...shipping at buyer expense BOTH WAYS. So...shipping would be > cost of new kettle. Guess I'll be getting a new kettle, but Hamilton Beach will never get a cent from me again. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY LIKE I DID - BUY A BRAUN OR OTHER RELIABLE BRAND THAT WILL LAST LONGER THAN 8 MONTHS.

Bought this unit back on November, 2016. Lasted only until March, 2017. Defective switch. Called customer service for a replacement and they said because it was under a limited warranty, I would have to pay for shipping. Shipping cost would be more than half the cost of the product. Not worth it.

ordered on June 23rd. Product failed on September 3rd.

Followed all manufacturer's instructions. Only used it to heat water.

Failure happened in the following fashion: unit did not turn off. wife noticed a smell of burning plastic. Found water all over the counter as if the unit's structural integrity had failed. Due to mfgr's warranty terms (owner pays shipping handling) it's not even worth taking them up on getting a replacement.

Would not recommend.

For many years I was boiling water for my tea in the microwave even though there was a kettle available on the stove. Somehow turning the gas stove on for a single cup of tea didn't make much sense to me. My family, however, insisted on using the kettle, as they firmly believed that tea from the microwave was gross. They were right, it wasn't the same but I needed to find a happy medium. Something fast and measured. I liked this little kettle so much that I bought one for me and two to give. It is the perfect utilitarian gift for tea and instant coffee drinkers. It boils fast, looks good on the counter and is well priced. It is also easy to clean. I would say this kettle is the most used gadget in our kitchen... or a close competitor to the microwave. I highly recommend this electric kettle.

Initially I purchased this back in January 2020 since I was going to Vegas beginning March. My mom loves coffee but can only drink decaf after our last Vegas trip, we learned it was quite difficult to find and get decaf coffee. Our hotel (Flamingo) casino floor did not have it available anywhere and we had to head outside to the nearest Starbucks, which was a hassle to order and wait for it. Once we finally did get our coffee, it was strong like mud, which my mom does not care for and we had to add water to it - another hassle to order additional water. Nowadays rooms no longer have coffee pots, just the Pods if you're lucky. So we decided our best solution was to bring our own water heater and instant decaf coffee. This time we stayed at Park MGM and this pot was excellent! We were able to enjoy instant decaf coffee and tea every morning and night without trying to track down places. I purchased this small size because I knew it was for travel and we did not pay for luggage so did the carry on option, it fit fine in my small suitcase and was light enough.

Prior to taking to Vegas we began using this at home and we love it! Our family drinks tea every night and I personally like my hot beverages boiling hot. This little machine brews the coffee extra hot! I will admit, I've burned my tongue a couple of times but I wouldn't have it any other way. I like that we can add water, flip a switch and forget about it. It automatically shuts off and keeps water warm until you are ready to serve. We drink large mugs of tea so we can make about 3 servings. But when we need more, we just add more water and it boils it quickly. I like this gadget so much I just purchased another one for my relative! Can't go wrong with this!!
