Thermometer not functioning as promised
Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2019
I finally used this thermometer 2 months after I bought it. This was the product description when I first saw it on Amazon'. Habor Meat Thermometer, Instant Read Thermometer Digital Cooking Thermometer, Candy Thermometer with Super Long Probe for Kitchen BBQ Grill Smoker Meat Oil Milk Yogurt Temperature'.
As it turned out, this is not for candy making, just a meat thermometer. Further, I don't think this thermometer worked properly based on my experience. I was preparing a sugar syrup, cooked the content to 160 F. Then I immediately put the content in the freezer to cool it down to about 45 F. When I took the sugar syrup from the freezer after leaving it in there for 30 minutes, the thermometer was registering a temperature of 120 and rising. That couldn't be right. The sugar syrup was not being cooked over heat so why would the temperature keep rising?
I took the battery out to reset the thermometer and tried again, same thing. I finally used a non-digital candy thermometer to test the temperature of the sugar syrup, it registered 75 F. Harbor Thermometer registered 135 F.
