I could not put it down. Keeps you on the edge of your seat till the end. I am a librarian and wish it was in every library. Although it is a novel it teaches so much about life in the middle east. I hope the author writes more. I will read everything she publishes.
Purchased as a memoir- it was fiction and stated so in the book. Book was full of distracting typos, English was not this writer’s first language and it showed. Title inadequately reflected subject. I would not even give this one star is was so bad, except Amazon requires at least one.
Excellent story! The plight of women around the world is horrible! It is tough to earn enough money to take care of a family, work full time and have to deal with an abusive husband.
I have read in other places about the terrible, sadistic behavior towards the work staff in Saudi Arabia and the Islamic world. So I believe all that is written in this book, but the torture this poor lady went through us totally horrific and barbaric.
I agree with all the other reviews about how the book was written; there were quite a few errors with paragraphing, punctuation and wrong word usage. I tended to ignore the errors thinking that this story was written by a non-native English speaker. The story of this courageous lady over-shadowed the occasional English mistakes for me.
When I bought it I thought it was a true story but it's not. The pictures are of actors and aren't very good. One picture has the boys fighting with the mom smiling. It's a fair story but needs a lot of editing. Disappointing.
