After one week my dog went to the vet with an intestinal blockage. Vet said that he sees this often with these chews. They are meant to be well chewed as the chews are very dense. If your dog doesn't take the time to really chew them (as most dogs don't), then it can end up getting stuck in their system.
My four year old mix has bad breath, even though the vet says there's no plaque build up or health concerns. I started giving him one of these every morning and haven't noticed a difference after two weeks, though he does enjoy them. Part of the problem is most likely that he doesn't chew them very long. If you have a slow chewer, they may work better.
The product does seem to work. If my dog has had a few of these over the course of a few days, her breath is noticably fresher. However, I walk her every single day, and she usually has to use the bathroom around this time. I do not give her Greenies daily, but I have noticed that every time I do give her one in the morning, her bowel movements are not formed well and very loose during her afternoon walk. This could well be a reaction in just my dog and not for others, but I would rather err on the side of caution. These just don't seem to digest well for my pup, so I will not be buying another bag. However, I cannot completely slam this product, as it did help her breath somewhat.
If it matters, my dog is a 5 year old long-haired Black Cream Daschund. She hovers between 12 and 12 1/2 lbs.
I ordered Tiny treats, but was delivered much larger ones. For a 5 lb Yorkie missing a few teeth, it's hard to chew. Also, I think the order also has an automatic delivery after 3 months, so no idea what they will send then. To the sellers credit, I did not have to send them back.
My dog loves them but I prefer to brush her teeth with a human soft toothbrush. I have been so successful lastly that I am considering to use my electric brush to brush her teeth. I will change the head, though!
My dog loves to eat Greenies. However, even with the right sized Greenie he finishes in basically a couple chomps. I'm not sure how much "brushing" actually gets done. They don't last very long. He just loves the taste and that's it.
They are a mint flavored treat. They won't clean your dogs teeth any better than any other "chew" treat. Granted my pup does like them and I don't mind giving them to her. However the price has simply skyrocketed in less than 10 months. Almost double, if not more depending on size/quantity. Until the price comes down to earth I don't see the point in even buying these.
