Amazon.com: Customer reviews: COWIN E8 [Upgraded] Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear, Great Audio for Travel/Work/TV/Computer/Cellphone, Rose
I researched quite a bit before I bought these head phones in January 2019 it is now July 2019. I paid $149.99, not chump change for me. Around the first of June the noise canceling feature started working intermittently, then that feature completely stopped working in July. I specifically needed the noise cancellation feature because of my work. Once the noise cancellation feature stopped working I had to turn the music up so loud I thought I would go deaf. But that wasn't a problem for to long as a few days later I couldn't even listen to the radio because the headphones stopped working completely. Had the head phones had worked, that would have been great. but spending $150 for 6 months of use is unacceptable. What a waste of money. I'm very disappointed and would not recommend purchasing this product. If you do buy it all I can say is... Buyer Beware! [**** 1st UPDATE Several weeks had passed since my initial review. Today I received a offer for a refund or exchange. This was unexpected as the product return date already passed. In exchange for this update I was offered a refund. This action changes my over-all rating - I truly appreciate an honest company that provides excellent customer service and that is exactly what Corwin and Amazon have done. Thank you.*****] 2ND UPDATE Guess what I posted the updated review above and I received another text message from the company and told I would get a refund AFTER I changed my review to "good product" or something similar and removed my initial and follow up review Well I CAN'T BE BOUGHT again I say BUYER BEWARE! Shady seller!
Noise reduction of overall headphone design plus noise cancellation features are great. I use these all the time due to sound hyper-sensitivity (chronic illness). Good quality sound and impressive battery life.
Bluetooth distance is outstanding -- I can walk all over my large farmhouse and even across the yard without losing connection to my stationary streaming tablet. Button layout makes more sense than the E7 (up=up) and located where it won't accidentally get pushed when bumped or leaning against a pillow.
Ear cushions detach magnetically for easy cleaning, so for travel the headset is best kept in the case. However, Cowin sells reasonably priced replacement ear cushions should the originals get lost or damaged. The replacements don't seat in the rim quite as securely as the originals, but they are quite comfortable and easily replacable.
Customer service was great about responding to a complaint in a timely manner.
Updated Review August 2019: After switching to the Cowin SE7 model, I am a convert! The SE7 is lightweight and foldable (similar to the cheaper Mpow H10 I had bought) but the Cowin SE7's performed better overall. On the airplane, the Cowin SE7 sounded only marginally better than the MPOW H10 (ANC worked the same on both - made it totally pleasant to watch a movie or listen to music)), but while cutting the lawn with my mobile phone in my pocket, the MPOW kept cutting out but the Cowin held the connection steadily. The Cowin E8 is possibly a better headset but they were too heavy for me and did not collapse for traveling. The Cowin SE7 is the perfect solution, and Cowin customer service is excellent. Note: Don't get caught up in Amazon's "there is a newer model" prompts if lightweight comfort and portability is important to you.
Original review May 2019: I guess they worked OK but they were uncomfortable and far too heavy. I returned them. Instead I got much less expensive Mpow H10 which really worked on several airplane rides. I am not really sure if the ANC/sound/battery were top notch. The weigh and bulkiness (the case is huge) were a deal-breaker for me.
Originally my wife and I got these for her to potentially use for gaming (using with Discord, etc.) but we found the mic to be too distorted and low volume for that purpose. I had intended to get a pair for myself anyway, however, so I just went ahead and took them and she got something else. I have found them to be fantastic headphones for my purposes, which is mostly listening to music late at night while working on other tasks. The sound quality isn't as good as my wired headphones, but it's the best and most consistent I've ever experienced from a set of Bluetooth headphones, and definitely good enough for casual listening. They are quite comfortable, and the noise cancellation seems to be pretty good, though admittedly there isn't much noise to cancel late at night where I live. If I go on a trip with these I will try to remember to update my review to reflect those experiences. Full disclosure, I don't write a lot of reviews because I don't have tons of time, but they offered a free gift to do a review (they didn't say it had to be a positive review) and I like free stuff, so here I am. Enjoy :-)
First pair of head phone that I have ever been able to wear for more than 30 minutes at a time. First, the sound is very, very good; but, for me comfort is a big thing. If headphones are uncomfortable after less than an hour's worth of use then the quality of the sound experience doesn't matter! This are light enough and the ear cups are very good. T
The only thing that could make them better would be a better pad on the head band and/or a dual head band like one sees on professional, studio quality equipment. Dual head band won make them ore stale on the head when moving about. Would I purchase them again - Yes.
I've been taking my time researching over ear headphones that are capable of giving me that "in person" experience at a pricepoint that was acceptable to me. I don't want to pay $1k+ even though I'm somewhat of an audiophile. I already have nice Beats and Sony headsets but they don't provide the definition in sound I've been looking for - either too heavy on the bass or too focused on mid tones. It's taken me almost a year but I finally decided on the Conwin E8 (upgraded) Active Noise Cancelling headset based on comparison information, all the great reviews and their stellar company reputation. I'm so glad I did! First let me say they are very nice looking, mine are black and with a deep pink metal trim. They fit really well over my ears and are comfortable. I do need to take them off every 30-40 minutes or so because my head and ear area gets warm but it is summer. Might not be noticeable in cooler months. Noise canceling works even better than my Sony's! I don't hear much of anything around me when I have the headset on. Bluetooth pairing was fast and easy. They play for several hours on one charge. Battery doesn't drain between uses as long on you un-pair and turn them off. I don't have to charge them very often. The sound capability of these thi gs is REALLY good! They are good right out of the box but use an equalizer with a surround sound ability and these will blow you away!!! These are not bass heavy, so if you are looking for that then these are not for you. If you are looking for a great headset that provides very good overall sound, and with an equalizer can produce a "realistic I am right there experience", these can do that. For the price, you can't do better...even at higher prices like my other sets, these are MUCH better!
The E8 upgraded has way better sounds quality. I am absolutely amazed. This is my second pair of Cowin Headphones. My original pair was the E7. I didn't specifically get them for the noise cancelling feature, but did notice that it did not eliminate noise as much as I would have preferred. Also the back button stopped working about 7 months in. The E8 upgraded's noise cancellation feature is very good. I can not hear my husband talking her playing his video games while I work in the same room with these on. They seem to even cancel noise before the headphones are turned on. The ear cups are larger than the E7 and the headset is a bit heavier overall. But that was mentioned in the product description. The battery life on these is around 20 hours as compared to the 32/36 hours of the E7 but the sound quality is way better. The biggest down side for me is that there is no way to pause your music using just the headset. You have to hit the pause button on whatever device you are listening from. This does irritate me, but I'm sure I will get used to it. Overall this is a great product and I would highly recommend. Cowin's customer service is also very prompt. I intend on buying their Bluetooth speakers for my car as well.
The best from buying them, was the quality without investing so much money , The price is fair for the high quality. Well made, sturdy, it feels you are having in your hands a sturdy, but at the same time, classic ,ergonomic, stylish earphone. It will not brake at your hands . The color choices was good too. The sound is perfect. Of course, 100% noise cancelling will not happen in any ear phone, but as soon you wear them, with a good quality device, the sound is super. The bass is not annoying and other sounds that you may not hear, on these, you will hear them. Very detailed in sound. Can compete with any expensive brand earphone. The ear pads are soft for your ears to wear. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed, besides, that the company gives you an amazon gift for your review. Very happy with the well made material and sound.
Pros: They look Nice. They are Comfortable. It comes with a hard case. The buttons are easy to use. It has descent Noise Canceling.
Cons: They don't sound great. Not what I expected from $150 headphones. Even at the sale price of $109 I still don't think they are worth that price. I would buy them for $60.
They claim to be bass heavy but the bass weak. Better to get the Skull Candy headphones at that price.
They do NOT get loud at all. Not to the level I would like and have heard of other headphones at that price.
Overall they are descent at best.
I ordered the ORANGE colored ones on Amazon and then I was Smsent the ROSE colored headphones. I went to look at my order and it shows I ordered the Rose headphones and the Orange ones were no longer available, didn't even show as an option, but I specifically sought out the Orange ones.
The headphones are descent but I wouldn't purchase them for $109.
I purchased these after accidentally breaking my pair of Cowin E7 headphones. These are a great replacement! The ear cushions are soft and comfortable. The battery life is great even with noise cancellation on. The sound quality is excellent. The Bluetooth range took me by surprise! I did not expect these to stay connected after stepping out into the hallway shutting my office door and walking to the end of the hall. They finally lost connection after I entered a room at the end of the hall then shut the door. These are slightly larger than the E7 which I needed to extend slightly from the smallest setting to fit.
