Amazon.com: Customer reviews: COWIN E8 [Upgraded] Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear, Great Audio for Travel/Work/TV/Computer/Cellphone, Rose
I've never used Cowin headphones before, but I've seen lots of reviews that say the E7 and E7 Pro are really great. So I decide to try these out and WoW! I was really impressed with the presentation and build quality you get for $150. The ANC actually works without degrading the music quality. The overall sound is really good with enough volume to jam all of your favorite songs. They're pretty comfortable as well. I actually ended up sleeping an entire night with them on my head. (my dog snores)... Anyway, these are really great headphones!
I purchased the E8 headphones (orange) because I travel for work and often work in open office situations. I have used them for two weeks now and I LOVE them! I really wanted nice, noise cancelling headphones, but did not want to pay the steep price for some of the better known brands. The price point for the quality is about right, and I am very satisfied with the purchase!
Initial test: I have used "Eyes Shut" by Years and Years to test the audio quality of every audio device I've purchased. When I first tested the headphones, I had to adjust the equalizer on my phone, but once I added bass the audio quality was amazing. The full range of audio coming from the set gave me an immersive experience. I listened to them in my home, so it was already fairly quiet, but once I switched to the active noise cancelling, I knew they would be clutch on the airplane.
Airplane: When I flew for the first time with the headphones, I fell asleep immediately due to the noise cancelling. It took me awhile to get used to a sleeping position to rest my head, but once I fell asleep, the headphones did not bother me at all. I really like that you can adjust how the pads rotate for the headphones to sit on your ear, and so I could find the right fit for them. The headphones drowned out the ambient noise from the flight which was great! I woke up before landing, but kept my eyes closed. The flight attendant shouted “sir” a few times before tapping me to lift my seat up - I swear I couldn’t hear them!
Office: I had a fairly busy week, so I wanted to focus at my desk. I had a coworker who needed to ask me questions throughout the day, and she had to actively wave/poke me before I would notice she needed help. Obviously, if I hadn’t been listening to music I could have heard her, but the music + active noise cancelling really adds up.
I have yet to have a problem with losing charge throughout the day, and had them all from takeoff on the plane to end-of-day at the office!
I haven’t used the mic function yet (these are more for audio), so I can’t review on that, but will edit my review if I do end up using them.
Package its a thick protective box, and inside you’ll find a huge travel case with the E8s and the cabling, 3.5 mm and micro usb cable, a 6.3 mm and a channel separator adapter. Comes with a user guide with support in many languages. The case is bulky, but will definitely protect your headphones from modest damage
Aestetics The headphone feels really nice when you hold in your hands, they are sturdy and they look good with golden accents, soft earcuffs and mate metallic parts. From distance seems somewhat made of cheap materials but when you look closely you notice they’re well built.
Comfort For over-the-ear headphones, the E8s are very comfortable, i have 2.5” ears (quite large) and I can listen for hours (I work in an office) without feeling any sort of pain so far. All surface that touches you head and ears have pads.
Interface Simple as many other bluetooth headphones: - Power button (that also serves as pairing button and play/pause button) - Volume up and volume down buttons (that also serves as next/previous buttons) - ANC switch for enabling active noise cancelling features - 3.5 mm audio cable port for wired listening experience - micro USB port for charging Personally i would love a power switch instead of a button, but that’s just my personal preference.
Pairing Pairing is easy, power on the E8 and it will attempt to pair automatically with the latest registered device, if it’s the first time it will enter in pairing mode automatically. On your device you only have to select the E8 on the Bluetooth preferences and they are ready to go.
Sound quality Sound seems to be superior to previous models, they have nice depth in the sound and overall music feels great, this cans do not seem to enhance any aspect of music. Voice is clear, now, ANC has really improved over time and Cowin really worked on enhancing this, still have some terrain to cover but they are on the right track.
After a couple of weeks I haven’t found any issues with the headphones. Life battery is amazing, sometimes i can get two-three days of use without need to recharge.
To summarize everything, E8s offer a nice upgrade to the previous models. My ratings are: Build quality: 8 Comfort: 8 Ease of use: 9 Sound quality: 8
My new COWIN 8 headphones came in a quality, crafted case. The COWIN 8 Headphones look sharp. They are lightweight, attractive and sturdy! I was surprised at the time/attention that was put into the carry case and I was happy to see that the USB/Charging cable and wired/headphones cable were quality. They even include the adapter for airplanes that don’t offer the simple headphone jack.
Like Clockwork my COWIN 8 Headphones powered right up and I was able to pair my new headphones to my IPHONE within seconds. As I was testing out the sound in my kitchen I didn’t even notice my daughter walk up behind me to ask me a question. Noise canceling comes as advertised. I made a few business calls from my kitchen and they worked perfect!
Thankfully, it looks like I finally have a new GO TO Pair of Headphones. Today I wore my new headphones for 3 hours straight. I was very happy to find that I didn’t suffer from Ear Fatigue that I have experienced with other headphones. Yes they are comfortable.
These Headphones are LOUD (I love it). I was surprised to find that I enjoyed a very distinctive STEREO EFFECT of sounds in an out from different ears and it sounded great! Love the way the BASS jumps in to make these headphones a great listening experience!
4.5 / 5.0 Honestly, this is the 3rd chance I gave to Cowin. I had originally purchased the E7 Pro's. I really liked them, but experienced the same popping that others experienced with head movement and the ANC on. I contacted Cowin and they treated me awesome. They asked me if I wanted to try a second pair and I agreed. The second pair was equally as bad with the popping. Contacted them again and they refunded my money. Thanks Jack for working this issue out with me. Since Cowin was so good to me and also the E8's were well reviewed, I decided to give them one more shot. These are far superior to the E7's. No popping, far more comfortable, and the ANC is far and away better. The only 2 issues I have are the pivot points on the ear phones and the sound quality. The pivot point still seems a little on the weak side, so recommend being careful. This was an issue that they worked to fix on the 1st generation of E8's. The sound out of the box is two fold. The sound didn't blow me away like the E7's. Folks also need to realize that people hear sounds / frequencies differently and some not at all. I have a Galaxy S8+ that has an adapt sound function in the settings which detects what frequencies you hear better than others. I did that and these sound much better now . Still not the bass punch that the E7's had, but willing to part with that for the ANC improvements. Also, bonus points for the high quality gold plated connectors that are heavily braided. Well worth it if you don't want to drop 3+ bills on the Bose.
I've been using these headphones for about 3 weeks now. I'll start with the positives.
The noise cancelling is excellent. It's far better than I expected at this price. I've used them on airplanes (which is most likely the main target environment for them) and they are great. Of course, it doesn't cancel all the noise, but they compare favorably to headphones that are more than twice the price. I've compared them side by side with the Sony WH-1000 and they are comparable for noise cancelling in a datacenter environment. They're far better at noise cancelling that others I've tried in this price range.
The audio quality is good. I'm no audiophile, so I can't really comment thoroughly on this. One thing that is very noticeable is that the audio quality, especially the bass, is much less rich with noise cancelling enabled. This is true of every noise cancelling headphone that I've tried, including Bose and Sony, but it does seem more pronounced on these. Still, for my ear, these are very good.
I bought these primarily for the noise cancelling and the audio quality. I'm VERY pleased with both. But these do have some problems that let you know why they're half the price of the high end noise cancelling bluetooth headphones.
First, these are huge and heavy. The weight is okay for me, but the weight is noticeable. I've worn them for 4+ hours at a time without issue, so it's not a problem for me, but I could see how it would be for others. Also, the case is unreasonably huge. The other brands seem to compact much more for storage and carrying. These are incredibly bulky and leave little room for anything else in my laptop bag and add a good bit of weight.
Second, these are not really usable for phone calls. There is no mute button on the headphones and when I mute the call on the phone, there is a horrible echo after I unmute. Also, I've had people tell me that they can't hear me but then I turn on the noise cancelling and then they do hear me. The phone call use on these is pretty bad and doesn't work at all in wired mode. This feature needs a LOT of work.
Third, when I move my head, e.g. during turbulence on a flight, etc., if I bump the 3.5mm wired input, it makes a horrible noise. It doesn't happen often, but it could probably be avoided completely with a different location or with some protection on the input.
All in all, these are a GREAT buy. They're great at their main use, noise cancelling and music, but still need improvement in other areas to be on par with premium headsets. So, at this point, you'll know where the extra money went if you spend it on Bose or Sony. But the extra money doesn't really buy you more noise cancelling, better sound, or more comfort.
I initially purchased the Cowin E7 Pro headphones and after experiencing the common popping noise when using ANC, I contacted Cowin and they were willing to send me an E8 Pro as a replacement at no additional cost! The customer service representative was very nice and was quick to respond to my emails.
Thus far, the E8 Pro headphones have been a pleasure to use and offer many improvements over the older E7 Pro model. Most notably, the improvements in noise isolation, noise cancellation, and overall comfort. With Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) disabled, the E8 do a significantly better job at isolating sounds than the E7’s, which means less distractions when listening to music. With ANC enabled, the E8 does a better job at cancelling outside noises with minimal loss of sound quality. Although the E8 have superior ANC, I was less impressed with the audio quality than I was with the E7. Don’t get me wrong, the audio quality is more than acceptable, but has less bass than the E7 and overall doesn’t sound as good to me.
As for the fit and comfort, the E8 headphones are quite a bit larger and have a tighter grip than the E7 which keeps them secured to my head without fear of them falling off, even with quick head movements. I have worn these headphones during multiple flights and long gaming sessions and they remain comfortable the entire time. As with the E7, Bluetooth pairing the device is still extremely simple and provides great audio quality. The battery life of the E8 is only 20 hours, compared to the 30 that the E7 offers, but that is still more than enough for a few days of use. My biggest complaint about these headphones is not actually about the headphones themselves, but the included case. The case is much larger than the more compact case of the E7’s which had a smooth surface and was overall better designed. The case of the E8 is not as sturdy and is significantly bulkier causing it to take up a significant amount of space in my backpack and making it difficult to carry when traveling.
Overall, this is a great pair of headphones for the price and a nice upgrade over the E7 Pro. Their customer service was also very nice and willing to help with any issues I experienced.
I had been purchasing the wireless ear buds for a while as I liked how small and unnoticeable they are but I was constantly having issues (I tried 4 different brands) with the sound going in and out and because they are so small it was hard keeping up with them at times (definitely lost 1 or 2 over the year) so I wanted to look at a bigger pair of wireless headpones that would work with my phone and these are great!
They auto pair instantly and I've not once had any issue with the bluetooth signal being blocked or lost so I have crystal clear sound consistently, even when jogging. They are comfortable and have great sound and while the noise cancellation isn't 100%, it's plenty to drown out most of any background noise to a whisper.
I also like that the battery last forever. I only have to charge them maybe once a week. So, if you're looking for some over the ear wireless headphones, go no further.
Ordered it for myself and using it daily !! The headphones are packed in a very hard case protection. Battery life is amazing ,charging it once will last half week with heavy usage. These black colour headphones fit well over the ears and bass quality is really very good ! Once you turn on noise cancellation you won't hear outside noise at all..would definitely recommend these for daily use !!
Good noise cancelling headphones with large earcup Pros If you have large ears and a big skull this wil still work well for you Sound quality is very good with rich bass Noise cancelling works amazing I use it 2-3 hous everyday and charge them on weekends only and it runs amazing Sound quality and Bass improves with ANC on
Cons The product page already says this is little heavier, it has larger ear cups and frame which adds to weight. i find it comfortable for use
