Amazon.com: Customer reviews: COWIN E8 [Upgraded] Active Noise Cancelling Headphone Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Hi-Fi Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear 20 Hour Playtime for Travel/Work/TV/Computer/Phone - Orange
Purchased for extended length international airline travel 12-18 hour trips (USA-China). On average, E8 was worn for 4-6 hour periods with 1-2 hour breaks between. Noise canceling feature provided excellent noise suppression (sitting 8 rows behind wing/engines, both directions). Music sound quality was excellent (iPhone Xr); volume range and control were both excellent.
Supplied cables and connectors were excellent quality and provided all necessary connectivity. E8 charged without issues (charging by seat back port). E8 delivered excellent value! Impossible to imagine a better value or performance … at any price.
Headset weight was expected to be on the heavier side — however, E8 fit perfectly and comfortably, weight was NOT a factor. E8 was purchased with the extra “replacement” ear pads — WARNING, these “replacement” ear pads do NOT fit! The E8 ear cup has a lip on each cup, this lip appears to be for mechanically securing the ear pad to the cup. This lip prevents the “replacement” ear pad’s magnetic pins from engaging their intended holes. The magnetic pins (replacement pads) properly align to their intended holes, unfortunately, the replacement pads are made slightly to large to fit inside the ear cup lip. DO NOT PURCHASE REPLACEMENT EAR PADS.
I have owned tons of headphones and this is by far the best pair. They sound better than my expensive pair of Sennheiser or the Logitech G933s they are replacing. I like that the pads are removable and tapered a little. I wasn't really liking how they were tighter above then below my ear but once I turned the pads upside down they fit great. My set of G933s were a pain in the ass to set up if I wanted to use external speakers every now and then. These immediately pair when I turn them on and switch immediately to the default sound output device, and then when I turn them off I don't have to switch back to the speakers. Once I flipped the pads over there was nothing I could say was a con to owning these.
Well, I was surprised at the quality of this product. I watched a review of this product on youtube, but he didn't really have real-life experiences, he tested the noise cancellation in his studio and said that it was ok. So, I wanted to share my recent experience with others.
I recently traveled by plane and I have to say, the noise cancellation was pretty darn good if fact for me excellent. The sound, while watching a movie was awesome. The only downside is that they are a bit heavy, so when considering this product think about your neck. Also, the cushion part of the headpiece although very good needs a bit more cushion, just because of the weight. They also might be a little cumbersome for anyone with a small head.
I hope that helps you for anyone considering in purchasing these headphones.
I'll note that this is my first pair of active noise cancelling headphones, so my positive experience is at least partially coming from a comparison to non-noise cancelling earbuds, but so far my Cowin E8 headphones have been EXCELLENT! I've used them both wirelessly paired to my phone for normal music listening as well as wire-connected to the audio jack of an airplane monitor on 2 recent flights. These headphones were great in both scenarios.
Wireless: the headphones paired very easily via Bluetooth, the sound quality was excellent, and the noise cancelling feature (especially in a normal background noise home setting) worked perfectly--almost zero background noise. To be fair, you can still hear sharp noises, such as a bang or clap when using noise cancelling, but even those noises are significantly dimmed. The main benefit is the elimination of the "normal" background white noise--people talking at normal volume, TV sounds, outside noise.
Wired connection: same audio experience as the wireless connection, but also with a very easy-to-use connector included in the package. This connected to the audio jack on an airplane video monitor, but with a jack-to-Apple-Lightning converter, the wired connection could also be used on an iPhone if desired.
Minor cons: as a few other reviews have noted, the case for the headphones and the headphones themselves are fairly bulky--much larger than a pair of wireless headphones my plane seat mate was using. The ear pads on the headphones themselves, while soft and comfortable on my ears, did get hot after a few hours of use. Neither issue was by any means a deal breaker, but in fairness I wanted to mention those issues.
Overall, I think these headphones are an excellent selection, especially in the value-for-the-price category.
These are very good headphones. Not only I recommend this headphones to every entry level audiophile headphone users, but also for gaming, home. It also have a lot of nice details that fixed a lot of problems that most most modern active noise canceling headphones have: - Easy switch to turn on/off the active noise canceling feature, - an optional AUX plug. With 3.5mm and 1/4 inch head phone jack - allows you to listen to music with without powered on if using a head phone jack (can still be used as regular headphones with empty battery) - allows you to activate noise canceling without any music. it is on a separate switch. So you can finally sleep on the plane without interruptions. Unlike my bose headphones keep turning itself off when no music presents. - Don't require you to install a unnecessary software on the phone/computer. - a good quality mic - comfortable pad even for people who wear glasses Most importantly: A sound quality that beats a lot of audiophile headphones around the price range. It is by no means the best, but it is on a satisfying level. Clean high and low, with clear bass. I gave it good for all the sound quality for its price.
I had really hard time finding a drawback, even not for its price. One thing that might matter for some people is that it didn't use USB-C recharging port.
Not as light as my old Bose headphones, but the sound quality and noise cancelling is as good if not better. They are also a fraction of the cost. Battery life is great, lasts all day and if the battery. Headphones are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Feel more durable than my Bose headphones. Been a long time user of the Corwin E7 headphones which I just gave to my wife to use instead of my old Bose headphones. My Corwin E7 plus my new Cowin E8 together cost less than my Bose headphones which I do not use anymore.
My only complaint so far with the E8 is the placement of the power and volume buttons. They are a little too close together and hard to find and push the correct button when wearing. I liked the E7 button placement a little better. It will probably just take a little time to get use to the button placement. Most of the time I just use my phone or what ever device they are connected to to change songs and volume anyway.
I have never owned a set of headphones like these. The sound qualities are amazing couple that with how comfortable they are and you will never want to listen to your music or play your games without them again. These phones seem to run on and on with recharging the batteries. hey are designed for perfection they look really good sound great are easy to connect they seem to last forever and above all are comfortable to wear
Decent sound, poor design and quality of materials. Was heading to the airport just now and as I went to put these on the left plastic housing cracked and fell apart. Leaving them completely useless. The plastic is thin and brittle and would have fell apart soon. Moderate user, flights and at my home office. **Edit: had the company contact me directly and offer a no hassle replacement. They had the new set delivered within two days. So far so good with the replacement headphones. Excellent customer service!
The sound quality of these headphones is really good and the noise cancellation feature works great. The look and feel of the headphones also suits me, although some might find them a big large. I like that they come with a nice case, and that the headphone plug comes with an adapter for stereos as well. The headphones pair easily with bluetooth devices and sound good that way as well. The only downside is that the manual is a bit cryptic and not very well translated from Chinese. I almost sent the headphones back because they stopped showing the charging LED and making power on/off sounds. It turns out the having the earphone cable plugged into them disables those functions for some reason. That's odd, but ok if properly documented. But this is a small (and easily remedied) problem. I would have only taken off 0.5 stars if that were possible. Overall, I recommend these headphones.
My husband loves these headphones. He works in a noisy work environment and so the noise cancellation is great. If things get too loud, sometimes it's not enough but usually the music he listens to is enough to block out external sound. He mostly listens to Daft Punk at work and says the bass quality is very good. The black and orange color is really nice and very stylish. We were initially going to purchase the SE7 but after reading reviews of the the 8, we decided to go with these and he has not been disappointed. He also has issues with headphones hurting his ears so the circumaural feature on these was one of the biggest appeals. They don't hurt him at all and they're incredibly comfortable. Would definitely recommend them.
