I really liked the movie, but at one point there was really too many CGI effects. Started to distract from the plot and acting. I think Benedict Cumberpatch did a good job, but I'll say this is one I can go a year or more before watching again. Not sorry I purchased, just sorry someone didn't curtail some of the effects that started to get in the way of what could have been a really great movie. Wanted to give it a five, or a four, but in honesty I think it's just a three.
I purchased this, but you can't hear it. I contacted customer service and they allowed me to return it so that I could purchase the one with bonus features....that one plays at a regular volume. Don't buy this one! Buy the one with bonus features, for a dollar more you get sound as well!
Eh, it was okay. I was mostly distracted by the score, which I spent a while trying to place. Turns out they reused the one from from Star Trek (2009). If they modified it at all, it wasn't enough to not be distracting. And now that I think about it, didn't they also reuse the score in the Star Trek Into Darkness, which Benedict Cumberbatch was in . . .
Too much smoke and no fire. Lots of "effects" but a terrible script and "comic book like direction"--that didn't work. BC is his usual intense self--sans British accent. (I think he needs that accent.) Other supporting characters are also not given much time or direction to develop. Consequently you don't connect with anyone in the movie. And...the "effects" reminiscent of Leonardo DiCaprio's film, "Inception" (a much better movie) are so overwhelming and over complicated you can hardly see what there is to appreciate for all the film's efforts in this area. Not a great watch. I fell asleep.
