Well written and fast paced

Always on the look-out for new authors in British police procedurals, it was the series name that caught my eye. Having been born and raised in Yorkshire, but now living in the USA, I enjoy being able to take a stroll down memory lane through cities and countryside that remain close to my heart when books are set in my home county. While this was the impetus for buying the book, and the descriptions did not disappoint, I became immersed in the plot line from the very beginning and found it hard to put down. As mentioned in previous reviews, DI Caslin is a flawed individual, an inherently decent man, but not necessarily good husband or father material and carrying the burden of conscience from a case in the past that had not gone well. The book is well written, fast paced, and kept me on tenterhooks throughout. I have already bought the second in the series, anticipate purchasing the third and hope that a fourth is in the works!
