Works as advertised. I was surprised at the size of this thing (that's what she said), it is pretty compact. The device was delivered and had a 95% charge already. I charged it to a 100% anyway but I probably didn't need to do that since manufacturer says you should be able to charge with at least a 30% charge. This device is very easy to setup. My car battery was completely dead, to the point that nothing worked in the car. I plugged the device to the battery and started the car and it worked like a charm. And this was in 25 F temperature. After jump starting the car, the device still read 100% charge, I was expecting it to drop to 80%, so theoretically you can jump start the car multiple times. I've only used this thing once, but it's good to have if you are in a rush and/or in the middle of nowhere. If you call AAA or Geico for a jump start, who knows when they will arrive anyway, so this is especially good to have just for emergencies. As for the other features - there's a built in compass, USB port to charge phones, a port to charge laptops... I don't see myself ever using these features but I suppose if I'm in a real emergency this would come in handy. When I tried the flashlight, I did note the charge went from 95% to 93% in the span of a minute, so I may need to test the battery life of this thing if I were to use the flashlight/blinkers for an extended amount of time. The device comes with a carrying case ... I don't think you'd be able to fit the carrying case in a glove compartment, but the device and cables by themselves can easily fit in the glove compartment. Anyway, I'm pretty satisfied with this, I recommend it.
I have never had so much confirmation of a product's value until my purchase in July 2017 of the DBPower 600A Portable Jumper Device received when I was still residing in northern Virginia. Because I am retired, I had been keeping an exceptional but very heavy commercial battery jumper for my Lexus. Each winter my monthly trips to Baltimore caused me delays when the temperature often dropped well below freezing. Then, I purchased a newer Lexus but had an opportunity to relocate to Sacramento to live with my younger brother at his ranch. I never expected how handy this small device would become when my brother's tractor died with a totally zapped battery. This little thing immediately jumped it to life. Then my sister-in-law left her lights on in her Toyota and my brother still could not believe how powerful this device truly was. Her battery died 2 days after the tractor and used barely 1% of the 100% charge which is clear visible even at night. What is not shown clearly is the beautiful zippered case with so many types of attachments. I have charged my iPhone, and my other Samsung mobile device. It even has it's own bright LED and even a built in compass. When I finally recharged the device, I simply plugged in a standard wall outlet which only took an hour. You can also charge it from your car's lighter port. My brother is still amazed at it's multitude of uses and frankly, even though I am more familiar with some of new tech items, I must admit this product is the best innovation for a dead car battery or a quick mobile charge I have seen in many years. . Outstanding !!!
Update #2: My battery now goes dead if I don’t drive for a full day so I’ve used this 5-6 times in just the past month. It also came in handy to help someone in my work parking lot who needed a jumpstart. They had their hood up, I said “do you need a jumpstart?”, they said they were waiting on AAA. I said I may be able to help, unzipped the little charger case, connected it, and got the car started up! (They brought me Starbuck’s coffee the next day!) I am getting a new battery so I likely won’t get as much use out of it. I continue to recommend this incredible little thing to anyone.
Update: I have now used this more than 6 times and has been solid every time. I’ve helped a couple people stalled in the parking lot at work so I’ve used it on four different batteries and cars, as well. It’s also been able to hold a 100% charge for at least a couple of months. It’s paid for itself four times over. VERY satisfied with this product!
Original review: Used this terrific little jump starter to start up an old car that had sat unmoved for more than six months. Battery had been dead for at least 4 of those months. Started it first try! I’ve since used it twice and it’s worked perfectly. Worth every penny.
Update July 9 2019, This baby is still going strong, we used it to charge our phones on a trip to Vegas to see my son, and it made it alot easier since we only had one charger in the truck, this charged 2 cellphones and also when needed charged my wife's laptop. And of course if needed to jump start it was ready because when we got to Vegas, the heat killed our battery, so luckily we had this, and was able to get her truck started again and off to O'Reilley's Auto Parts for a new battery. It really does come in handy.
Only had this for a week, but so far I took it out of the package and it said 91% so I used it to start my TJ Jeep right up with a dead battery. Sorry But I told my wife a new battery is too expensive at 180.00 and my batter is only around 3 years old. This item for the last week has restarted my TJ about 4 times already and that's on the first 100% charge, and it still shows 100%. When ever i go anywhere I put this in my jeep in case I see someone else needing a jump start, no more having to pull out my heavy jumper cables. I will update this review later on in a few month and tell y'all how its doing. and Thanx to SPARKY CHANNEL I bought this item. His review was really good and to the point, If you haven't seen it yet here it is, he actually unhooks his car battery and just uses the power to start a 4banger with no problems. Now I do not know if it will do that for my 6 or a diesel but it still shows this baby has POWER!
Update: 03/20/2018 Since the day I got it and used it about 5 times it still showed 100%, Today I had to jump my Jeep since it has sat since about 2 weeks and the batt wasn't registering on the meter, and when I turned the key on my overhead light barely glowing went out. so I hooked the jumper up and it was red, waited a few secs, then I hit the booster, and then went to the ignition and whoa!!! IT STARTED! Meter now says 99% Not gonna charge it till it says 25% which they said to recharge it. Will keep updating anything new for a while till it either dies or I update for a year.
I just got this a few days ago and had to use it on my Lexus ES 330 today. It started on the first try and still had 100% charge left after starting.. It was easy to hook up but remember to push the button to the left of the flashing light if it doesn't turn solid green after hookup.
I was impressed with how easy it was and how well it worked. Not having to get another car or person involved is great too.
The only downside is that it has to be recharged every 4 months so I put it and the car charger cord in my glove box and put a note on my cellphone to remind me to recharge it periodically.
10/17/17 Update. I needed to try it again on my Corvette but couldn't use it. The upside is that the terminal clips are very sturdy, which is good, but the downside is that they were a bit too large to fit in a tight place and I couldn't connect to the terminal. The clips are also fairly hard to squeeze open and might be difficult for some people. Still a five-star product but just be aware of the need for enough space around a battery terminal to hook it up.
By the way, the product still registered a 100% charge available after 8 months.
whatever you do ... DONT wait for your battery to be completely dead, before seeing if the thing is going to jump start you again and again. I used a friends first, bought mine a few weeks later INSTEAD of a new battery and sure enough, car dies when i needed to be somewhere on-time, and it couldn't revive a totally dead battery! So now I have this great emergency jumper/ charger AND a new battery. It is NOT a substitute for a totally dead battery! You've been warned! UPDATE: i have upgraded to 5 stars as my unit died and it was past the 30 day return from Amazon. I contacted customer service and asked what could be done? Unit was a brick! They said 'no problem' confirmed my purchase, and sent me a replacement. Even if the product isn't 5star the customer service makes it THAT much better!!
After fully charging the device to 100%, it failed to jump start a 3.5L gas engine after attempts of 20 minutes. I returned the unit and then learned from Youtube that there is this "booster" button which will do the trick. I am kind of mad since I read and re-read the user manual several times. Where is the "booster" button mentioned?
I cannot help but suspecting the quality of the product. If the manufacture could not even provide the simple instructions for simple operations, how could they trained their workers properly to make this thing?
Would not start my tractor or lawn mower the DB POWER PACK was fully charged so I got the old faithful jumper cables out and started my tractor and lawn mower...this power pack. may charge a phone or laptop...I received an email from custmer service and apparently the 24 horse power engine in my lawn mower is too big for this portable CAR jump starter to start...maybe that should rename their product to sell phone or tablet power pack since that's all it will charge
I bought one of these for every member of my family. I had mine for about 4 months before I actually needed it and it worked...but not as well as they would like you to believe.
However, when you need to jump start a car when there isn't anyone else around, this thing can save you a ton of hassle, time, and money to have a service come jump start your car.
I pull this thing out and charge it in the car from the cigarette light every month or two. It loses about 10% charge per month. I haven't exhaustively tested it but I have used it to charge my phone and jump start my car, which are the two main reasons I bought it. It comes in a nice pill-shaped hard case which happens to fit perfectly under the seat of my Focus. It has a 12 volt charge cable, a 120 volt wall charger, USB to Micro USB cord, and a separate charge cord with a round end for laptops, along with adapters to make that round end larger to fit a variety of laptops. No eight pin charging cord though so if you have an Ipad, you will need another cord or an adapter. The one time I jump started the car, it worked just fine. The battery is encased nicely in rigid foam so I never worry about it rattling around in the car or being dropped causing any damage. And it comes with more accessory cords than any other I've seen on the market.
NOTE: to jump start s car, plug the jumper cable cord into the jump starter, attach the alligator clips to the car battery, push the power switch to On, and you will see the light on the side blink from green to red AND THEN you have to press the button on the side of the plug where it goes into the jumper. Once you press the button you have 30 seconds to start the car. It's a safety feature.
Here are the issue I had. 1. Flashlight didn't work. You push the power button once for the flashlight. Click it twice for the red flashers. The flashers work but the flashlight didn't. Everything should have worked right out of the box but I have other flashlights so I didn't return it. 2. The alligator clips for the jumping are small and I understand that for the size of the unit to keep it small. It was just a bit of a struggle to get them on the terminals. 3. Let's look at the listing above. "Jump start your vehicle...up to 30 times". Nope. Jumped 1 car 1 time and the power dropped from 100% to 15%. Tried to jump it later and it didn't do a thing. To be fair, my terminals had corroded and the battery was mostly dead. I cleaned the terminals and jumped the car so it probably took a fair amount of power to get the job done, but still "up to 30 times" is expecting a lot. That would be 0.6 amps per jump. My car batter is 590 amps. 32 times more powerful than the jumper so 0.6 amps would make almost no difference. 4. 12 volt charging cord worked fine for a few months then at some point the metal end fell out of the cigarette lighter part. Made it useless and it's specific for this battery so I can't just buy another one. I'm going to have to cut the end off and put a new lighter adapter on. 5. Everything will fit in the case and the cords are all supposed to fit behind the mesh net on one side, but they tend to fall out every time I open the box. Would be nice it that worked a little better. Just be careful and open it up inside the car so if things fall out, you'll be able to find them again.
Other than those minor issues, I'm pretty happy with this thing. It did exactly what it was supposed to, which was to jump start my car when there was nobody around to help me. I had a different model before this one and that jumper had battery issues. This one is twice as powerful and got better reviews so I bought it. I expect to have it for several years at least before I need to replace it. Maybe by then you'll be able to just buy the battery so you don't have to throw out more cords.
