My first review ever. I would definitely recommend this coffee maker. However, "Line Up The White Arrows"

My wife and I have been using this for about a month now. I usually make one 10oz cup thru the k-cup feature every day and my wife makes a cup every other day thru the mini basket. By that I mean she also uses the k-cup feature however puts her own coffee grounds in the removable mini basket. I have made a pot of coffee once and there are no complaints. There is only one hiccup. To insert the mini basket you first need to take the k-cup insert out, no problem. You then insert the mini basket with your coffee and start the brewing cycle, no problem. Usually I would think most people not in a hurry would remove the mini basket and clean out the grounds, no problem. My wife, bless her heart, then replaces the k-cup insert so it's ready for me. Here is where there is a problem. There are two white arrows inside the k-cup side of the machine. One is on the k-cup insert and the other is on the machine it self. These two arrows NEED to be lined up. The manufacturer decided to place these two white arrows toward the back of the coffee maker, thus making it a little difficult to see. If you don't line up these two white arrows, the machine will allow you to put it in backwards, close the lid and fire it up. The result is your k-cup foil lid punctured incorrectly and there are coffee grounds or tea or hot chocolate all over the inside of the machine. It's not something you can ignore and use it again right away, you must clean up the mess first. This happened twice now. It's frustrating getting out the Q-tips to clean out the pockets of coffee stuck in the machine. So, unless you enjoy telling someone they made a mistake again, look twice at the "White Arrows" before passing go. P.S. Single-Serve Side Leaks/Unusable

After using a $20 coffeemaker for the last 20 years, we decided to upgrade our home coffeemaker. This particular model with the two methods of brewing looked like a great choice. When we received it, we completed all the setup instructions and registrations, as suggested in the product literature. The 12-cup side worked fine, but the single serve side was completely dysfunctional. Immediately, before the single-serve side was officially used, we noticed water was leaking from the reservoir onto our counter. Then, when we did use it for the first time, we got only one usable cup of coffee. The next cup brewed ended up all over our counter, complete with the coffee grounds. Cuisinart offered zero support, when asked.
If you are going to spend this amount of money on anything, it should work perfectly, as advertised, immediately. We are returning this for a refund and will go back to our faithful $20 coffeemaker. I doubt we will consider another Cuisinart product.

I purchased this dual purpose Cuisinart to replace my single cup Hamilton Beach for the rare times I need to make a full pot of coffee. I previously also owned several generations of the Keurig. So...I thought this was the perfect choice to eliminate having several appliances on the counter. Well I Loved it until it started to leak all over the counter from the single cup side. I thought at first I hadn't secured the water reservoir properly but after several checks this was not the case. Also went to Cuisinart's website for troubleshooting, faq's and submitted a inquiry regarding the issue...to no avail, didn't even get a response. I have read other reviews and I agree the single serve side DOES spit all over.. I did not have an issue with KCup but I used the included kcup. I haven't had a chance see how it works with other kcups or ground coffee in the single serve side, as I have been using tea bags for one cup at a time. The water reservoir will still have AT least another 8-10 oz left when the ADD Water comes on..so it seems I have to refill it more than I should. I have had other Cuisinart products most recent, that were lacking in quality control. Disappointed to say the least for the money...My inexpensive Hamilton Beach gets five stars.

Flawed design

I liked the functionality of this coffee maker but it needs some major improvements. One, you better make sure that you press the k cup down firm or it will not pierce the cup when you close the lid. Two, filling the 12 cup side is a pain, the lid gets in the way of the pot when filling. Third, the clean light comes on and wont go off despite cleaning it per the instructions. I returned the first one due to this light and it just happened with the replacement...I guess a piece of tape will fix the annoying red light. With the Cuusinart name behind this it should not be this flawed.

Cheaply made with metallic taste

We've loved our previous Cuisinart coffeemakers. This one, however, is very disappointing and we are returning it. The reservoir cover wasn't attached well and would not close correctly. (Doesn't any company use quality materials anymore?)

The coffeemaker brewed an OK pot; however, the single-serve brewer left a metallic taste in the coffee - even after several brews. An unacceptable product from the usually reliable Cuisinart.

Not so fast! Somewhat limited...

I was excited to see this new coffee pot! I owned an SS700 from Cuisinart for years. I wanted to give it a fair shake so I have used it a lot to check it out in detail. Here is my honest assessment “Jack of All trades, Master of None”. It’s almost as if the took a small Kcup brewer and added it to a mid range Coffee pot. The standard side offer a few advantages over a $29 box store system. But if it was just the standalone brewer, one of comparable quality, features, and warranty would cost 35-50 dollars. The kcup “side” of the unit is a real letdown! I guess the 700 Series of offerings were so good I just expected more. This unit is much slower and has few of the same bells offered on the stand alone system offered by Cuisinart. Fewer cup sizes (6,8,10 ounce only). A small water tank that accommodates few finished cups. And despite the unit being left “on” at all times, it is noticeably slower than many “first generation” kcup brewers. Great idea doing a 2-in-1 system but In my opinion, trade-offs had to be made to achieve a smaller footprint. If you are a frequent “full pot” brewer that only occasionally uses kcup in low qualities this unit might work great for you. But if the opposite applies? Get a kcup brewer for your counter and a pot brewer for a closet. I have buyers remorse.

Dissapointed in this product from Cuisinart

I am really really disappointed in Cuisinart. I love their products but this one just keeps giving me problems. I am only giving two starts because the 12 cup side has been working so far. It is the kcup side that is constantly having problems. It will blow out the coffee kcup when it does work or it will just not work at all! I am glad I bought this through Amazon and they have been very helpful about sending another one. I'm hoping the new one will work better. Otherwise I am asking for my money back and getting a different product. I hope this helps you with your decision on picking a new coffee maker.

September 2018 Update: The water reservoir leaks quite a bit. If I fill the reservoir and leave it for 2-3 days, it will leak onto the counter below. I put a towel under it at first to make sure it wasn't just splashes from the sink water, but I have determined it is the coffee maker. This is too bad because I used to consider Cuisinart a quality providing company, but I have been disappointed in the product at this point. I still like the design, but still wish it came with a thermal carafe. Love the combination coffee maker. The water reservoirs are separate and you can add enough on the k-cup side to not have to fill it every time. I do wish it could be ordered with a thermal carafe or that there was a thermal carafe I could order separately but not which one fits it correctly.

I purchased this coffeemaker for my wife who is the coffee drinker in our home. It looked to have everything someone would need, single cup and carafe capacity, nice features, good clean design. At least at first glance. The first thing we noticed after set-up was that the design of the water receptacle on the carafe side was really difficult to get the water into the water hole. It is a tiny hole located at the back, behind the cone filter and the lid doesn't bend back any further than the straight up position. So you almost have to measure your water into a measuring cup or something with a long tube to get in cleanly, otherwise it all goes into the coffee grounds in the filter. The design of the carafe is fine, but the lid design isn't. The pour hole is too small and the entire lid has to snap on and off, no swing arm here either. The first time we poured coffee from the carafe it went all over the counter, and has done so many times since. Not a clean pour by any means.
The single cup side idea is great, and the flexibility that you can use your own ground coffee or buy K-cups is a nice feature. I had to watch a you tube on how to operate this feature because the instruction book didn't address my questions on how to use it. Once figured out, we ran it with our own ground coffee in the holder. It worked great until we looked at the countertop. The entire area around the front of the coffeemaker where the cup sits on the receptacle was wet with coffee water splatter. We tried cleaning and adjusting any areas on that side of the machine to see if a clog or something was plugged, nothing worked to prevent it from splattering all over the counter. It happens every time we make a single cup of coffee.
So overall, I would have to say that I would not recommend this machine. It has some nice features in theory, but in performance it is only marginally acceptable. Just know if you choose to purchase, there will be a lot of clean up in your future.

I purchased this unit in mid 2017. It is now late 2019, and I’m having to buy another coffee maker. I really wanted this one to work because I like the looks of it better than other brands. Other than being insanely slow at brewing a cup of coffee, it worked great at first, . But after the first year, the entire unit shakes and rattles when it brews a pod of coffee. The top lid doesn’t close tightly, so every time we make a cup of coffee, we have to place something heavy in top of it so it doesn’t rattle and wake the whole house. It looks like it’s made of metal, but it’s mostly plastic. Not as heavy duty as the picture portrays it to be.

Disappointing Cuisinart Coffee Maker

I have always liked Cuisinart products and was impressed by the dual function and look of this coffee maker. I use K Cup coffee so I have only used this side of the machine. While all the functions are impressive, however, the coffee flow into the mug is weak and splatters all over the counter top rather than being a strong and steady stream which flows entirely and cleanly into the mug. I returned my first machine due to this problem, but the replacement I ordered had exactly the same problem. This has to be a design flaw in the product which is a surprise to me as I have always found Cuisinart products to be of excellent design and quality. This is a real disappointment to me as I would have thought that Cuisinart would have overcome this issue in their quality control before launching it into the market and supporting it with heavy advertising. My confidence and loyalty in Cuisinart products has been significantly undermined as a result, particularly where I noticed in another review that Cuisinart had been totally unresponsive in answering their product complaint.

Disappointing

Would not buy again. K-Cup side sputtered from day one and we are constantly cleaning up coffee splatters on the counter. After a year the “Clean” indicator light has turned on and we cannot get it to turn off no matter what we do or clean. We had a basic Keurig that lasted four years and are very disappointed in this Cuisinart.
