Great Magazine

I like this magazine - it shows a variety of styles and antiques - although its Country - it has a wide range of decor within that style.
Arrives in good shape, quality nice, ontime. Will probably buy again-

This has nothing to do with country living

The articles are trite and the decorating advice is for looks only - nothing practical for living - to me anyway. The whole magazine doesn't seem grounded in reality. Just an attempt to make "cute pictures" to sell advertising. I flip through it just to see if anything catches my eye, before throwing it in the trash. I won't be renewing this one. There are way better options out there for people looking for ideas for their country homes and landscapes.

This magazine has certainly changed over the years. I recently subscribed again and I am very disappointed. The magazine should change its name to "Home Remodeling and What to Buy to Make Your Home Look Fake Country." Gone are the beautiful photos of rural places and gone are any resemblance to the caring people of country life.

I've finally gotten around to reading the April 2019 issue and sadly it has solidified my decision to cancel my subscription. I fell in love with this magazine while in my 20s. I love to decorate, but being young and poor, I needed to find a style that could be had on a stretched dollar. Country Living fit the bill. I loved everything about it, and felt I could easily replicate the style on a budget. I greedily read every issue as soon as it was delivered and saved every issue for future perusing. Then the editor left and I didn't quite gel with the new one. But the magazine was still good, you could still rely on it for inspiration. I learned to enjoy the new editor's style and happily continued my subscription. And then she left too. The current magazine has become tone deaf. The young 20 something that could actually visualize the pages coming to life in her own home, despite a meager budget, has become a jaded 30 something that no longer sees herself among the pages. You can no longer recreate the pages in CL in your home unless you've got a lot of money to spend. And others who complain about the ads are right, it's ridiculous how many pages are devoted to ads. The style is cluttered and the monthly features are boring. The current April 2019 issue is especially insulting. How many of your readers can just drop their day job and start an organic farm, an antique shop, a vineyard, a flower farmer, etc? It's become so elitist and I'm just a small town country girl, in need of some new inspiration.

I have gotten this magazine for as long as I can remember....Now there is no country in country living magazine. What happened to the beautifully decorated homes that displayed antiques and primitives and items that lend to "country living"....wont subscribe again and will miss it on a cozy fall day...

I can't tell you enough how disappointed I am with my former long time favorite, Country Living. My Mom used to subscribe when I was a kid and I always looked forward to it and especially in my teens. I loved the heavy stock shiny cover and the tall format. .....and of course the contents! I have never had a year since my early 20's that I haven't had my own subscription.
A few years ago another editor made the magazine wide and floppy with a dull, cheap cover. The worst of it is that it is loaded with ugly advertisements for medicines ! Imagine looking at a beautiful kitchen on the left and to the right is an ad for Lyrica! Really!
The last few issues have been so thin I wonder why I even bother.
If you want a great Country Living switch to Country Living UK! Worth every dollar! I look forward to it so much and their ads are beautiful stoves, rugs and furniture as it should be. Just saying........

WARNING: This is one of those "automatic renewal" deals that never ends! I now have TWO magazines now coming to my home that I no longer want! I tried to cancel each within 24 hours of notice, but THEY WILL NOT ALLOW THE CANCELLATION.FOR EITHER!! SUBSCRIBE WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT IT WILL BE A HUGE HEADACHE TO END!!!

I'd enjoy the magazine if they hadn't messed with the reading format. I wanted a magazine, not a broken-up mess. It's better to enlarge the page or section of the page than to see a page, then have to read about everything a page or two later. Info was also left out. This reading format is no improvement, it is a detriment and distraction.

Be careful when ordering this magazine. They on their own decided to auto renew and charge my Amazon account for renewal. I just went thru hours of chatting with Amazon to cancel. Buyer beware!
