The Concept 2 E is an excellent machine. It has met all expectations related to quality construction, smooth and efficient operation and aerobic & strength training. The extra seat height provides an ease of use advantage for our HOA gym where most users are a bit older. I would highly recommend the Concept 2 E.
Although I went to the gym at least 5 times a week, I just didn't like the gym environment. After doing some research on rowing machines, I decided on the Concept 2, Model E rower. I am a 72 yr old woman and wanted a machine to address all body parts. According to my daughter who is a personal trainer, this rower is an excellent all around low impact workout machine. I have been using it now for two weeks and am making steady progress to get to my goal of 45 minutes of continuous exercise and have already seen improvement on my weight scale. The machine is very quite while in use and the seat and pull handle function is smooth as silk. The handle bar and seat are made of a hard plastic but I have not found it to be uncomfortable and I like how easy it is to keep clean. The mechanism itself is easy to clean with the instructions provided by the manufacturer. The monitor works great and easy to see while working out. The breakdown for storage is a bit clumsy because there is little to hold onto while taking it apart. We only take ours apart when we are expecting guests as it's in our living room so we can watch TV while working out. The model E sits about 4 - 6 inches higher than the Model D making it easier to get on and off. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to workout at home rather than visiting your local gym. Yes it's a bit pricey but figuring the cost of gasoline, the time it takes to drive to the gym and the monthly gym membership fee, it won't take long for it to pay for itself I couldn't be happier.
Excellent rowing machine, easy to move with its break apart design.
Better, to me, than the lower model D, or Dynamic thought that takes less space.
One does need to watch video's online to row relatively well. Key is to move the handle equal to the seat, and legs are the source of majority of rowing power in this on the water sport. Legs, arms, back, in that sequence to pull. Move forward for next stroke in order of arms, back, legs.
Unfortunately, bad on the water rowing technique habits do not register and reduce the perceived power "generated". But that is currently true of all rowing machines.
Low hands for air strokes register power, but would not power a boat. High hands do not cause a fault stopping the fly wheel like a "crab" stops a boat. Torso thrown away from flywheel before pulling handle at correct height does not induce flywheel braking, equivalent to stern check caused in a racing shell, or any other boat.
I love everything about this rower!!! I’m a beginner at rowing for a complete body exercise and love how even just a 30 min. row feels like I’ve been to the gym for an hour!! The PM5 monitor that easily attaches to the rower is a plus as well. When I registered my Concept2E online I signed up for daily workouts that I receive via email with 3 different timed programmable workouts. They literally give you the sequence to put into the PM5 monitor and you’re off and rowing! The Model E is much higher from the ground so getting on and off is that easy. Definitely worth the extra $! Also the noise level is low so I can hear my music without having to blast my AirPods! I’ve owned several pieces of workout equipment, each one being replaced by the next new one because I simply did not enjoy my workouts. Since I’ve received this rower I look forward to rowing everyday!!! It’s definitely the beginning of a beautiful friendship! 🥰.
I've used the model D at the gym, so I know how well Concept rowers are built. I got the model E for my home, and I have to say it's a step up. The quality is amazing, and I think the model E looks even better. I like the higher seat also. Can't wait to use it each day.
I use it everyday. It's easy to use and move (once assembled). It does arrive in one big box, roughly 3' x 5' and weighs about 100 lbs, so you'll need a dolly or friend to help get it into your house/apartment because it's a little awkward to move. Once assembled, it's easy to use and very sturdy.
Unquestionably top line rowing machines available on the market. High quality construction that should last for years. Extremely quiet machine with smooth pulley/chain motion. Gives you a full body workout in 30 minutes to an hour based on your work intensity. Easy to maintain and clean. Top notch product. PM5 monitor has prebuilt rowing routines and stores workout history on USB stick. Rowing history can be downloaded using a PC connection to PM5 via USB cable to 'Online logbook' provided by Concept2 on its website. Professional training routines and interactive online team rowing are available through third party software providers like RowPro.
Purchased based on all of the reviews I read. They are all true. Easy to set up, built like a tank, easy to put away, and smooth as silk. My wife and I really love this thing. I had recent shoulder surgery and this has been great for rehab. My wife can crank up the setting and with a turn of the dial get a great workout. This is also very easy to put away. It literally comes apart by pulling up one latch. and it goes together just as simple.
I have back issues so I purposely bought the E model instead of the D model. They are identical except for the height of the seat. I am very happy I went with the E model. Much easier to get in and out of. Great product!
So excited for this new gem in our workout room!! cold weather? raining? just not feeling like putting on running shoes? guess what -- this rowing machine has you covered!! put on some tunes and row to your hearts content ... either for calories or time ... it will challenge your goals and you will feel accomplished whenever you finish ... legs may a little wobbly but its a good feel. So glad we purchased this one for the family!! PS: I will be buying the gel seat as the accessory for this rower. I tried my friends and it added a little more comfort.
This arrived quickly and was easy to set up. It takes up more room than I'd expected, but it's very sturdy and the monitor which has some training 'games' is very nice. The rowing activity is deceptively simple - getting the technique just right is harder than it looks! I get a good workout and it feels like my whole body is getting exercised. It's quiet as well. I wish the fan could be set to blow on me while I'm working - it seems silly to have to set up a fan to cool me when the resistance is created by moving fan blades! I am not finding the seat uncomfortable, but I'm only using it for fifteen minutes at a time at this point.
