Amazon.com: Customer reviews: COWIN E7 Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear, Comfortable Protein Earpads, 30H Playtime for Travel Work TV Computer Phone - Red
After seeing all the high reviews for these headphones, I purchased them with the expectation that they were going to be amazing, I came to the realization that those reviews were not accurate. I’m of the belief that those high reviews were left after the initial use of the headphones. Construction quality - They feel flimsy at best. The earphones are comfortable but the unit tends to slide off of ones head and doesn’t stay in place. After using them for a few months one of the earphones broke away from the unit and is only hanging by a wire. For the life of me I can’t figure out how it happened or how it was even staying in place. Active Noise Cancelling - this worked great at first and after a while they had problems with periodically make a high pitched noise. The only remedy to this noise would be to turn off the active noise cancellation. When the active noise cancellation is in use another noise would emanate on the track is skipped or the music is stopped/started. In other words, don’t touch the headphones when the active noise cancellation is in use. Battery life - Amazing! I could use them for over a week on a single charge. Sound Quality - The loudness is good, the lows are muffled and the bass in certain music makes it sound as if the drivers aren’t able to reproduce the frequency accurately.
Clunky, have to be sitting down for these to work well. Noise canceling is awful. But worse, the manufacturer employs a tactic of essentially paying for negative reviews to be removed, and then doesn't follow up on their end! Pretty much says it all about the company.
Update Today, while the sound is good, there is now a ticking in the right ear, Very annoying. The sound is fantastic, these do a great job at blocking out noise even without the ANC. With the ANC a wonderful hush takes over. - the mic on my set is terrible, people say i sound like i am talking from the bottom of a bucket. - the battery life on these is no where close to advertised. i get somewhere around 10 hrs of listening, not in ANC mode - I love the sound these provide, full, rich and good bass - If you want a great headphone for listening to music, i love them - if you want to take calls or use in a headset mode, i do not recommend. - love the wireless bluetooth connectivity - takes a long time to charge (many hours 3+) - annoying busy tone when battery dying (does get your attention)
Update: It’s been about a year and a half since I ordered two pairs of these headphones. I’m updating to say that, with the use of zip ties after one of the can holders broke, I can still use them but I don’t. I upgraded to Jabra Elites. The other pair of these headphones that we bought aren’t functional anymore.
However I am also lowering my star rating because I have been receiving way too many (like twice a month) texts, calls, and emails from the company asking me to change my rating in exchange for another pair of headphones.
At first, I was fine ignoring the messages because I had moved on to the Jabras and didn’t have the time or need to devote to the problem. However, I am now sick of being contacted. If I ignored the first few messages, it is safe to say I am not interested. There is no need for the company to continue to contact me. They should have taken the measly hit that my original 3 star review was and moved on.
I don’t like how companies are gaming Amazon to take money for garbage products. Maybe this company is just a victim of all the other companies that are trying to take advantage and maybe I just happened to get 2 inferior sets of headphones when they are usually great? I don’t know and I don’t care. What I do care about is companies using fake reviews to increase sales and take money from average consumers.
So, Buyer Beware.
I’ve had this for about 2 months. The noise cancelling feature stopped working about a week ago. It sounds like a short even though I really pamper my headphones. The headphones are comfortable and the battery life is fantastic. I will keep using these until they die because they do work well, unless you need noise cancelling.
The red is beautiful and bright. The buttons are a little weird and fiddly. And, the on/off/bt ink wore off very quickly. But, that’s just a minor annoyance. I expected better for $70 but they are okay. I wouldn’t say don’t buy them but I won’t buy them again.
UPDATE: After posting this review, I immediately received an email offering me a replacement. So for customer service, I have to give them 5 stars. Received the new pair yesterday (they are an upgraded model +++) and will review after my next work trip.
Bought these for use when I travel, but left them at my Mom's over Thanksgiving, so didn't get to use them yet. Just got them back and used them once and the right earphone already separated from headpiece and dangles down. Poor design and construction. Cheap...should have invested in a better product. Frustrating...
FOR THE SHORT TIME THAT BOTH OF THESE WORKED, THEY WERE BRILLIANT . EASY TO CONNECT AND GREAT SOUND. I'M NOT A SOUND EXPERT THE OVERALL POOR RATING IS BECAUSE THEY BOTH DIED BETWEEN 2 & 3 WEEKS AFTER I GOT THEM. SO THEY ARE BOTH ARE GOING BACK.
Had I read reviews first I would have learned that, contrary its description, this device does not work with TV. Perhaps a later one does. No instructions are included and no cables for that purpose. Returned it.
These headphones are fairly uncomfortable, they are too lose to wear to the gym and if you try to lean over or lie down with them they will just slide off. There is no way to tighten them to fit your head. They feel cheap, but I havent been able to really test the functionality due to the fit.
