Amazon.com: Customer reviews: COWIN E8 [Upgraded] Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear, Great Audio for Travel/Work/TV/Computer/Cellphone, Black
I've never used Cowin headphones before, but I've seen lots of reviews that say the E7 and E7 Pro are really great. So I decide to try these out and WoW! I was really impressed with the presentation and build quality you get for $150. The ANC actually works without degrading the music quality. The overall sound is really good with enough volume to jam all of your favorite songs. They're pretty comfortable as well. I actually ended up sleeping an entire night with them on my head. (my dog snores)... Anyway, these are really great headphones!
Package its a thick protective box, and inside you’ll find a huge travel case with the E8s and the cabling, 3.5 mm and micro usb cable, a 6.3 mm and a channel separator adapter. Comes with a user guide with support in many languages. The case is bulky, but will definitely protect your headphones from modest damage
Aestetics The headphone feels really nice when you hold in your hands, they are sturdy and they look good with golden accents, soft earcuffs and mate metallic parts. From distance seems somewhat made of cheap materials but when you look closely you notice they’re well built.
Comfort For over-the-ear headphones, the E8s are very comfortable, i have 2.5” ears (quite large) and I can listen for hours (I work in an office) without feeling any sort of pain so far. All surface that touches you head and ears have pads.
Interface Simple as many other bluetooth headphones: - Power button (that also serves as pairing button and play/pause button) - Volume up and volume down buttons (that also serves as next/previous buttons) - ANC switch for enabling active noise cancelling features - 3.5 mm audio cable port for wired listening experience - micro USB port for charging Personally i would love a power switch instead of a button, but that’s just my personal preference.
Pairing Pairing is easy, power on the E8 and it will attempt to pair automatically with the latest registered device, if it’s the first time it will enter in pairing mode automatically. On your device you only have to select the E8 on the Bluetooth preferences and they are ready to go.
Sound quality Sound seems to be superior to previous models, they have nice depth in the sound and overall music feels great, this cans do not seem to enhance any aspect of music. Voice is clear, now, ANC has really improved over time and Cowin really worked on enhancing this, still have some terrain to cover but they are on the right track.
After a couple of weeks I haven’t found any issues with the headphones. Life battery is amazing, sometimes i can get two-three days of use without need to recharge.
To summarize everything, E8s offer a nice upgrade to the previous models. My ratings are: Build quality: 8 Comfort: 8 Ease of use: 9 Sound quality: 8
My new COWIN 8 headphones came in a quality, crafted case. The COWIN 8 Headphones look sharp. They are lightweight, attractive and sturdy! I was surprised at the time/attention that was put into the carry case and I was happy to see that the USB/Charging cable and wired/headphones cable were quality. They even include the adapter for airplanes that don’t offer the simple headphone jack.
Like Clockwork my COWIN 8 Headphones powered right up and I was able to pair my new headphones to my IPHONE within seconds. As I was testing out the sound in my kitchen I didn’t even notice my daughter walk up behind me to ask me a question. Noise canceling comes as advertised. I made a few business calls from my kitchen and they worked perfect!
Thankfully, it looks like I finally have a new GO TO Pair of Headphones. Today I wore my new headphones for 3 hours straight. I was very happy to find that I didn’t suffer from Ear Fatigue that I have experienced with other headphones. Yes they are comfortable.
These Headphones are LOUD (I love it). I was surprised to find that I enjoyed a very distinctive STEREO EFFECT of sounds in an out from different ears and it sounded great! Love the way the BASS jumps in to make these headphones a great listening experience!
4.5 / 5.0 Honestly, this is the 3rd chance I gave to Cowin. I had originally purchased the E7 Pro's. I really liked them, but experienced the same popping that others experienced with head movement and the ANC on. I contacted Cowin and they treated me awesome. They asked me if I wanted to try a second pair and I agreed. The second pair was equally as bad with the popping. Contacted them again and they refunded my money. Thanks Jack for working this issue out with me. Since Cowin was so good to me and also the E8's were well reviewed, I decided to give them one more shot. These are far superior to the E7's. No popping, far more comfortable, and the ANC is far and away better. The only 2 issues I have are the pivot points on the ear phones and the sound quality. The pivot point still seems a little on the weak side, so recommend being careful. This was an issue that they worked to fix on the 1st generation of E8's. The sound out of the box is two fold. The sound didn't blow me away like the E7's. Folks also need to realize that people hear sounds / frequencies differently and some not at all. I have a Galaxy S8+ that has an adapt sound function in the settings which detects what frequencies you hear better than others. I did that and these sound much better now . Still not the bass punch that the E7's had, but willing to part with that for the ANC improvements. Also, bonus points for the high quality gold plated connectors that are heavily braided. Well worth it if you don't want to drop 3+ bills on the Bose.
I've been using these headphones for about 3 weeks now. I'll start with the positives.
The noise cancelling is excellent. It's far better than I expected at this price. I've used them on airplanes (which is most likely the main target environment for them) and they are great. Of course, it doesn't cancel all the noise, but they compare favorably to headphones that are more than twice the price. I've compared them side by side with the Sony WH-1000 and they are comparable for noise cancelling in a datacenter environment. They're far better at noise cancelling that others I've tried in this price range.
The audio quality is good. I'm no audiophile, so I can't really comment thoroughly on this. One thing that is very noticeable is that the audio quality, especially the bass, is much less rich with noise cancelling enabled. This is true of every noise cancelling headphone that I've tried, including Bose and Sony, but it does seem more pronounced on these. Still, for my ear, these are very good.
I bought these primarily for the noise cancelling and the audio quality. I'm VERY pleased with both. But these do have some problems that let you know why they're half the price of the high end noise cancelling bluetooth headphones.
First, these are huge and heavy. The weight is okay for me, but the weight is noticeable. I've worn them for 4+ hours at a time without issue, so it's not a problem for me, but I could see how it would be for others. Also, the case is unreasonably huge. The other brands seem to compact much more for storage and carrying. These are incredibly bulky and leave little room for anything else in my laptop bag and add a good bit of weight.
Second, these are not really usable for phone calls. There is no mute button on the headphones and when I mute the call on the phone, there is a horrible echo after I unmute. Also, I've had people tell me that they can't hear me but then I turn on the noise cancelling and then they do hear me. The phone call use on these is pretty bad and doesn't work at all in wired mode. This feature needs a LOT of work.
Third, when I move my head, e.g. during turbulence on a flight, etc., if I bump the 3.5mm wired input, it makes a horrible noise. It doesn't happen often, but it could probably be avoided completely with a different location or with some protection on the input.
All in all, these are a GREAT buy. They're great at their main use, noise cancelling and music, but still need improvement in other areas to be on par with premium headsets. So, at this point, you'll know where the extra money went if you spend it on Bose or Sony. But the extra money doesn't really buy you more noise cancelling, better sound, or more comfort.
My son had a pair of the E7s and loved them so I thought for my travels I would try these which are similar but have active noise canceling too. Very happy so far. I use for plane travel often and these definitely help you check out from the plane noise and enjoy a movie or some music. Comfortable and have never run out of power on my long trips which is important. They sound great with or without the noise canceling on. Can take calls on them too and sounds good from both ends so this is good. They look very nice, (see attached pix and video). Also, and this is a big one the Bluetooth is very good. Easy connection and stays connected. It's a bummer when you have to reset Bluetooth etc.. which with these I have never had to do. I have more than one pair of headphones, but these are my go to now for sure.
Listening to music in the COWIN E8 Headphones will bring new life to all your favorite songs. You'll appreciate their sonic beauty like never before.
Not only do these headphone provide supremely magnificent audio, but they're aesthetically pleasing as well. The black and gold ones I purchased are a true work of art.
As a music producer who runs a music supervision business it's absolutely essential that I listen to music the right way. The COWIN E8 headphones allow me to do that like never before. The noise cancelling technology is also the best I've experience in a pair of headphones.
If you're looking for a high quality pair of studio headphones, I highly recommend the COWIN E8's. They excel sonically where other headphones in the same price range have failed.
COWIN was able to let me try out the E8 headphones for free so I can review about how I felt about them compared to their E7 version that I used all the time in 2018. The E7 headphones were already amazing to me back then so It felt so natural for me to see if their upgrade was a true successor or not. After a little over 2 months since I started using these headphones, I manage to find many improvements out of these compared to the E7 counterparts such as: - Bigger cushions for long time users on the headphones: E7 hurt my ears after wearing for a while - Improved button placement: It’s not as confusing to control the volume buttons anymore - Improved noise cancelling: I can’t seem to tell the difference between the two, but it’s now easier to switch into the mode when using E8. Also, the noise cancelling can work when the headphones are off now - Improved wear and tear: The materials that make out the outside of the headphones seem to be sturdier compared to E7. It’s a huge price boost compared to its predecessor no doubt, but I have to say, it’s kind of worth it if you’re into COWIN products and just wanted to get an upgrade to the E7 pair. In my opinion, that’s what the E8 essentially is.
This is the second Cowin headset that I own. The first one is E7 that I bought sometime in 2017 and was really impressed with the set for the amount I paid. I really like them and used a lot during my air travel. I wanted to give Cowin E8 a try and found it to be really worth the price.
The appearance of the headphone has changed quite a bit. The headphone itself is big and looks completely different than E7. Ear piece is way bigger than the E7 and it wraps around my decent size my ears to give me comfort. Also, for the price you pay, the headset does not look cheap and looks nice and fancy. The battery on the headphones feels like it lasts forever once you have a full charge. I like the fact that my IPhone shows the battery indicator of the headset as well.
The headset has a pretty good sound quality. It's not the best sound that I have had experienced on the headphones however for the price it does the great job. I have owned this set for almost a week now and had chance to receive the call once and it did a great job during the call. There was a clear communication on the both end.
In regards to the comfort, E8 headsets are little heavier but I like it since it gives you sturdy feeling. I am still using the E7 with no problem so this E8 gives me a feeling that it will last for a while. Although the headsets are bigger then E7 I feel they are more comfortable given they have significant enhancements around ear with soft and bigger cushions.
I have not tried the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) on the E8 however I felt E7 had a pretty good ANC feature. I will be using the ANC feature on my upcoming flight. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase and would definitely recommend this product for the price.
The only thing that I disliked about this was it came in a big bulky case that might need little bit of space during travel. I really like the pouch bag E7 came with. But overall I am satisfied with my purchase
I ordered these in hopes of saving some money. I travel quite frequently for work so a good set of Headphones are worth their weight in gold. Let me first give you a little background about me and then I will get to the review. I have always loved audio, I don't consider myself an audiophile by any stretch however, I have more invested in audio gear than I care to admit. I own headphones that cost north of $1500 and the proper equipment to drive them. I have owned the big brands of Noise canceling headphones Sony etc. Etc. so my experience is real world and actual.
Review: (Spoiler Alert... Just Buy them, You will be pleasantly surprised) These are a phenomenal set of Headphones, not only for the money but just cause they are that good!~ If you don't want to bore yourself with the rest of my comments See note above, Worth every penny....
Comfort: very very comfortable and I have a large head, the protein style ear-cups are plush and feel great Build Quality: Excellent, No Creeks, No Rattles Weight: A bit on the heavier side but not bad, I've had these on for 3+ hours and no issue Sound Quality: These are very warm with a good base signature, I've only listened to Flac files and used my R3 pictured, I did tune them to my liking within the internal software but out of the box they sound great. Customer Service: EXCEPTIONAL, I think it's important to note the first set I received I believe was malfunctioning (I get it it happens) However the seller Cowin reached out and sent out a new pair overnight and they work flawless. This type of customer service is extremely important in my opinion, try that with the big brands (Good Luck)
I am very pleased with the set of Headphones, without question they are worth double their asking price... Hope this helps with your buying decision, I have ordered over 8 Noise canceling headphones in the $100 price range and these are hands down the winner!
