Amazon.com: Customer reviews: COWIN E7 PRO [2018 Upgraded] Active Noise Cancelling Headphone Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Hi-Fi Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear 30H Playtime for Travel Work TV Computer Phone - Red
I tried these for a few days before returning them to Amazon. The sound quality is very good, and the earpieces were very comfortable over my glasses. However there were a number of problems:
- The max volume is far too low for my tastes. Compared with other headphones I’ve used, it’s maybe half as loud.
- The buttons on the right earpiece are upside down and the functionality is wonky. Specifically, you press UP for lower volume/previous track and DOWN for higher volume/next track. Also the short press changes tracks while a long press changes volume. All of this is the opposite of what it should logically be.
- I tried using them with the included AUX cable. I was not able to do so without first turning on the headphones. This is not a helpful feature; I like Bluetooth functionality and the only time I would need to use the AUX cable is when the battery is dead - but this isn’t possible.
- Finally, the swivel to move the earpieces is very loose - not necessarily a matter of poor construction, but it just doesn’t feel right.
UPDATE: After returning these I was contacted by Cowin customer service. They sent me a new pair of E8’s as a gesture of good will, because I had several issues with the ones I ended up returning. (The E8’s are definitely superior to the E7, so make sure you check out the latest model.) They did not pressure me to delete this review, but I did tell them I would add this because of their efforts. I’ve also decided to add back another star for excellent service. So if you are on the fence with ordering from Cowin, don’t stress about it - give them a try, knowing that they will definitely bend over backwards to help you solve any problems you might have. And I strongly suggest E8’s instead of this model.
I purchased these as an additional set so that I could have 1 paired to my PC and 1 paired to my TV. They pair up very well, but there is no ability to "unpair" or "disconnect" or "factory reset" or whatever. This headphone is supposed to pair to my PC. It connected well at first, but now it's not paired to the PC. It's paired to something somewhere in the house, but it's sure not paired to my PC. When I turn off and then on again, it blinks blue but then pairs too quickly to whatever its affinity is, so I have no opportunity to pair it to my PC. There is no support page on CowinAudio. Nobody to contact to get help. 3rd party support pages are useless for this issue. I had this issue previously (thinking I could pair to whichever device I wanted as my needs changed during the day), which is why I THOUGHT a 2nd pair would solve the problem, providing I never tried to pair it with a different device. My computer's bluetooth can't find the device now because it pairs so quickly with whatever. This is really poor engineering. The lack of any support compounds the problem and makes this a complete waste of money.
UPDATE 9/18/19 Customer support reached out to me on this review and offered my money back. I have to say, they were persistent about "making things right", so I've upgraded this review from 1 star to 3. The sound quality is excellent, and the noise reduction really works. I do think the design of the volume button is poor, it's a triangle shaped plate on the headphones with one point being the on/off/paired/noise reduction-is-on light, one point is reduce volume and the third point is increase volume. To get it to reduce sound, you need to hold it for a few seconds. For some time I kept punching around on the toggle thinking I hadn't found the sweet spot. Also, I'm probably misunderstanding the pairing, but there doesn't seem to be a way to find that information, and it's still an issue for me.
Full disclosure: I use a headset all day for work. It comes on and off my head. Gets tossed in a bag and on my dashboard. Charged every night. I use it primarily for talking on the phone.
The Cowin unit did not function well for my purposes. It has an on-off switch, which is great, because a common problem I have is pressing the darn tiny button just right or wrong to get the unit to turn on vs pair vs go into some other special mode. I thought it would be more robust than other ear bud units I have gone through and it did seem very well made. I did not keep this item because the microphone did not work well. Other people could hear background noise better than my voice.
I also found the buttons a bit non-intuitive. I got that I pushed the center of the headset on one side to pause or play, but sometimes other things would happen. It would advance to the next podcast, for instance. The volume control is very fine. To affect a change you have to press it many times, so there was a lot of adjustment in the sound volume.
The audio quality seemed great. I'm no audiophile, but the unit blocked sound really well. I really wanted that microphone to work!
So I got these for myself for xmas 2018 love the color love the noise cancellation feature. Now I only use them when I am in my office doing my homework. But I noticed when in the last month that when i charged for a good 24 hours then connect them to my phone it shows that battery charged is only at 10%. So I tried another USB cord and outlet to charge another 24 hours still getting the same message. I'm kinda upset cause I really liked them. Never thought to get the protection warranty cause my son has a pair and yet his headphones hold a good charge. Would love for someone to reach out to me and help me with this problem :)
Ear cups are a little small, I don't have huge ears or anything, but for me they did not really cover my entire ear. The noise canceling does exist, but it is very weak, especially compared to the gold standard of Bose. The biggest drawback for me on these headphones was the quality of the microphone. I specially ordered these because I needed a Bluetooth based headset for Skype meetings and calls, unfortunately, the quality of the microphone made my calls sound terrible. So in short, tiny ear cups, weak noise canceling, and terrible microphone. I will say they look great, but being a guy, wearing these, I looked a little funny with the red ones. One last thing, in red, the power on-off button text is very very difficult to read, hard to determine which detent was the Bluetooth setup and which was the noise-canceling. I returned them.
Having read the awesome reviews of these headphones and comparing them with the many others offered here on Amazon, I decided to purchase this item. I've had them just under 2 weeks now and they worked fine after I charged them up the first day. But, since earlier this week I have not been able to get Bluetooth to connect either on my laptop or my desktop. My laptop I need the adapter for and my desktop I do not. I've tried to connect with and without the adapter on my desktop and always with the adapter on my laptop - a 2010 Sony E Series Vaio (still going strong!) but not equipped with Bluetooth. The blue light on the headphone comes on with the desktop and it says "paired" in my Bluetooth control panel on the desktop but the sound plays out of my speakers and not the headphones. Also, even when I plug in the wired connection the headphones with my laptop it does not play out of the headphones, just the speakers. They do work wired to my desktop but the Bluetooth function doesn't work for me at all now despite my trying every combination I can think of. I have not yet contacted Cowin Customer Service, I've heard they offer great customer service, for how to fix my problem but I am posting this for assistance. I really don't think I'm doing anything wrong and think that perhaps the Bluetooth function is messed up on my headphones.
The sound quality is as good as people say. I'm no audiophile but they sound a heck of a lot better than my wired Skull Candy headphones, which incidentally, I've never had a problem with. They are very comfortable to wear - the padding is very generous and they look awesome. I want to keep them but I want them to work.
Cowin Customer Assistance, can you help me with my headphones, please? Thank you.
UPDATE 11-20-2018: Cowin Customer Assistance has contacted me and is sending a replacement headset. Thank you Cowin Customer Assistance for your help. I appreciate it and look forward to receiving the replacement headset.
UPDATE 11-21-2018 I have received the replacement headset today. Thank you Cowin Customer Assistance for addressing my problem and providing a solution. I am grateful for your assistance and look forward to using the replacement model. It's charging up at the moment. Thanks again!
This is a very cheap, flimsy, and uncomfortable noise cancelling headset, but you get what you pay for. It's uncomfortable to wear for longer than an hour, and is pretty mediocre at noise cancellation compared to other products. But if you can't afford the real deal... you're better off just buying nicer headphones.
Seriously, at this price a decent pair of non-noise cancelling bluetooth headphones would be a better buy.
The product worked great until the left side stopped working just outside the replacement window. The manufacturer contacted me and offered me the new version of these headphones (COWIN SE7 Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Bluetooth Headphones Wireless Headphones Over Ear with Microphone/Aptx, Comfortable Protein Earpads). The new headphones are fantastic, sound quality better, noise cancelling better, more compact, better battery life, and better fit. Great customer service!!
Well. The sound is decent. The materials feel really cheap. No idea if it’s going to last. Not that loud. If you touch the outside of the headphones it sounds as if the tone/music quality changes for a split second.
Noise canceling feature is trash. And the head phones don't nearly get loud enough they did block sound sorta but not really noise canceling even without music playing and nc on every movement made a statiky noise. If you want these because they are cheaper pair..there just not loud enough and had a hard time keeping them snug on my head whilejust walking. Ended up buying ghostek sodrop2 and they are wicked awesome and loud af.
