Amazon.com: Customer reviews: COWIN E7 PRO [2018 Upgraded] Active Noise Cancelling Headphone Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Hi-Fi Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear 30H Playtime for Travel Work TV Computer Phone - Red
I bought the Cowin E7 Pro headphones to cancel out some of the general noise in my office so I could focus on my work better. The headphones are comfortable and stylish. The materials and construction seem to be of good quality. Bluetooth connectivity was easy with my phone and laptop so no concerns there. The headphones are quiet as they are without the noise cancelling feature enabled., kind of reminds me of the hearing testing booths at school when I was a kid. The earmuff pads are comfortable and form fitting and help to isolate from the outside environment. With the noise canceling feature enabled, the sound stage is very quiet and the sound quality is pretty good. They are not very loud though, so if you are looking to thrash, they are not really made for that. Podcasts are easy to listen to, Music is crisp and filling. These are not $350 premier noise cancelling headphones however, they are pretty good straight out of the box ad I hope they last for a while.
TL;DR: In summary, despite the archaic slide-switch, the Cowins deliver the sound I want. The build quality and included value-add accessories are excellent.
I picked up a Cowin E7 Pro in striking red couple of weeks ago. I primarily wear them for Spotify, along with Audible and Headspace. My choice of music goes from classic rock, metal, old school 80s and 90s hip hop, and acid jazz. And the Cowins have delivered everything I’ve thrown at it.
PROs: Ridiculously good bass and nice punchy full spectrum sound. I can close my eyes and fully immerse myself in whichever audio I’m listening to - be it music or spoken words. Has a comfortable padded headband and comes with a solid case that’s great for travel and storage.
CONs: The slide switch is a bit of an annoyance. In 2018 I don’t feel the need for a mechanical slide switch. I have difficulty sliding the switch while the headphones are on my head. And end up putting too much pressure and making the wrong selection. Hope in the next version of this headphone, Cowin replaces the slide with a soft-logic switch - so the design can be: keep Byron pressed for 4 seconds to turn headphones on and off, and press once to cycle ANC.
By the way, the ANC mode pulls some bass back. But I don’t really use the ANC mode. So this isn’t much of an issue for me.
Overall, this is a good headphone! here are the pros: produces good sound quality, amazing battery life, and very comfortable to wear. The material are plastic, but feel pretty solid. it does not feel like cheap plastic and there is a lot padding in this headset unit. Cons: as far noise cancelling goes, it does reduce some background noise, but not a whole lot. I guess good enough for the price. The Microphone in this unit does not work properly; my friends can never hear me when I am talking to them using the headset. One thing that bothers me is that when you wear the headset, the plus (+) volume button is down and the minus (-) is up. I feel like this is bad manufacturing. our brain automatically tells us that + should be up and - should be down. I constantly keep on pushing the - button, while I meant to press +. However, there is no problem with the button, they work perfectly fine. it just little detail like this that they have to pay attention to on the manufacturing process. if you arevlooking for a headphone with good sound quality and good bass, I would recommend it.
Honestly I wanted to love them but I was very disappointed and had to return them. First, they hurt my ears. Second, they have horrible sound. My cheaper tribits sound better to be honest. Third, the Bluetooth connection cut out at 10’ away from my phone.
UPDATE: Cowin reached out and replaced my headphones, wanting to make sure that I was satisfied. Basically, I just got a new pair for nothing more than them wanting me to be happy. They even upgraded me to the SE7’s and I’d definitely suggest them if you’re not happy with comfort on previous headphones you’ve had. Anyway- I’ve never encountered such amazing customer service before. Thanks Cowin.
After having these for about a month I must say I love them! The sound quality is great for the price and they are very comfortable. The battery life is amazing so far. I've only charged them twice and that was just to be safe since I was going on vacation. The noise canceling is pretty darn decent for the price as well. It's definitely not as good as some of the higher priced headphones that offer it, but it does the job for me. The only draw back I've noticed so far is while riding on the city bus, if we hit a decent bump the sound cuts out for a brief second but it's not a deal breaker. The mic is not great either. I've seen others say they lose connection when they have their phone in their pocket. I have not had this issue. Connection has been great so far. I took these babies on a cruise and they did a great job of blocking out the noise while I jammed out to The Temptations on my Ipod. However, while listening to an audio book I was able to here my surroundings a tad more but still was better than not having noise cancelling at all. Overall these things kick major booty for the price. I highly recommend them!!!!
Do not Buy, they break in the same spot every time. Had two pairs, they both broke in the same spot. I was happy with them until they broke after less than three months, tried to contact Cowin, they responded quickly, but asked for more pictures. When I try to send the pictures or even just an email, the email is rejected and their phone number doesn't work either, kinda worthless warranty if you can't contact the manufacturer.
UPDATE: after 14 months, Cowin came thru and replaced the headphones.
Let me start by just saying what I like about these.
Sound Quality is decent/serviceable. I'm coming from comparing these to a pair of M50x's and they hold up decently. However, when Noise-Cancellation is turned off the bass is very muddy and muffled sounding. Way too heavy in that dept. Turning on the Noise Cancellation helps to reduce this mildly. My pair made strange noises at random in the left ear that were fairly loud. They're a little small on my head and fairly heavy to wear.
I wanted to get a noise cancelling headphone but I only fly once in a while. So I didn't want to spend a few hundred bucks to buy Boss headphone. I searched options and I landed on this which has decent review. Overall it's pretty good deal for the money spent and it satisfied my need. Some points to share
1. Noise cancelling: I never used Boss noise cancelling headphone, so I don't know how well Boss does the job. This one do cancel air plane noise, in my opinion about 70 to 80% of it. That was good enough to listen to music, video or movie comfortably. 2. Design: Photo tells pretty good reality. I like the design and color scheme. It looks very modern and simple to me. 3. Comfort: Ear cup fully enclose my ear and sit soft and comfortable. one thing I thought it can improve is that there was no inside padding just under the middle of head rest. Did not cause any issue wearing it though, 4. I read some review about bad chemical smell. I did smell the new plastic product. It went away after a few days being left in open air but I guess some people may be very sensitive for smell. If you are not super sensitive, you are probably OK.
I bought these head phones to use with my laptop because in a house full of people it is at times impossible to hear my laptop which is essential in using it because I am blind and therefore depend on the ability to hear in order to use it. I enjoy using the head phones, they are very comfortable. I wish however, that they did not require a charge to use them when they are hard wired to the laptop, but I did not check to see in to that before purchasing, so that was my fault. I love the case they come in and of course I love that they are red... So far I am very pleased with them...
Nice, well fitting lite weight headphones. The volume controls are a bit clunky for me and don't seem quickly responsive, but then it could easily be operator error/impatience. They are the Chevy version of the Cadillac E8, so nice, but if you have the Washington's, go for the big guy. BTW.....Cowan's customer service cannot be beaten by anyone in the business. Unbelievably responsive and excellent.
